Overall the stay was okay. I kept smelling cigarette smoke in the hallway on my floor and sometimes when I enter my room. I had to open the windows most time for ventilation. It would be nice to have a iron and iron board inside the room. There was an adjoining door in my room which I didn't like. The staff is friendly and courteous. The breakfast variety is also good.

The place next door to the Holiday Inn Express in Cape Town has a broken window at the front of the property that makes the area look less than pleasant. Apparently, it has been there are many months & has never been repaired, something that gives the area a bit of a downtrodden look.

I requested top comforter be switched as there were makeup stains from the previous guest present when I checked in. After returning that day the request wasn't met, the same comforter remained on the bed. I was checking out the next morning so didn't bother with demanding new set of sheets at that point.

Discourteous service.

We are from Canada and had booked 11 day South African cruise (Reunion Mauritius Madagascar and lastly South Africa) We had booked one night stay in advance in Capetown en route to Tanzania. However, I got severely ill and had to cancel the whole trip two days before departure and notified all vendors in advance prior to leaving Canada, with a medical note from the hospital/doctor of advise not to travel. All parties, incl Cruise company, airlines, all other hotels and tour companies credited the charges EXCEPT HOLIDAY INN CAPE TOWN despite three requests and reminders but to no avail. While the total amount was not large, I found it discourteous not to respond with a reply. I would not recommend this particular hotel for being disrespectful and lack of client service. That is all I can say

It was centrally located. Being there, we could take rideshares for different places for $2-3. We preferred rideshares as we were with kids. Very nice breakfast. Kind personnel.
