I like this hotel overall, but they have some things to work on. You can't see it from the road - if you don't already know it's there and where to find it, you never will. They have no drop off area for luggage - it's quite dangerous to try in the middle of the street, and parking is quite far. The staff is wonderful. The rooms are gorgeous and quiet, but there is a LOT of mold in the shower grout and caulking. It's really disgusting. And there is absolutely nowhere to hang a hand towel. The breakfast is grossly overpriced - for 14 I expect to order off a menu and be served. In fact in the town it's cheaper to do just that, but here it's average buffet. It's a great hotel, but needs some tweaking.

The fact that the main lobby/front desk are on floor 2 and not easily accessible from either entrance ("main" entrance doesn't have a place to stop with your car and the other entrance requires some stairs) was a bit flustering. The lobby space itself could use some upgrades, and all the staris to and from the rooms on the floors was frustrating to navigate with luggage. The room was spacious and clean enough, and the staff was nice, but we had some qualms about it overall.

Could not fault the hotel, room was spotless & comfortable. Staff were so polite & friendly. Only one negative & that was the noise from outside, but understandable due to the area of hotel.

Manager was rude. 3 pm check in. They have 60 rooms but at 12 noon they didn't have or willing to do even at 2 pm. You must have to wait upto 3 pm. I told them that i am gold member with Expedia. She said that's different company. You talk to them. I said will it be possible before 3 pm? She said i told you just come back at 3 pm only. No manner how to talk to customer.I told her i traveled 120 countries, no one is rude like you. All 60 rooms will be ready exactly at 3 pm??????

Ideal location in town centre, hotel was nice, friendly staff and room a good size. Beautiful dining room at breakfast although the supply of food was poor. Had to wait as hot buffet was empty and cold options were not replenished even though it was mid service. Good overall good value for money

Great location central but did not get bothered by noise. Only stayed one night for a concert did not use hotel amenities just needed a place to sleep. Unfortunately the bed was the most hard and uncomfortable I have ever experienced in a hotel and the pillows were so hard I woke up with ear pain from the pressure. I got zero sleep. Such a shame I had booked two rooms and the other room was exactly the same.

The Royal is a beautiful boutique hotel just a five minute walk from the train station. It is in the centre of Cardiff so close to everything. The staff are wonderful and friendly and the rooms are clean and provide you with all you need. Love staying here.

Very friendly staff and like the idea of natural products and supporting a local bee farm however the bedding and floor didn’t feel clean, the room was slightly outdated with a very small window they made us feel enclosed. There was a lot of noise from the clubs in the area. Breakfast wasn’t the quality expected for the hot food. Reflecting on the price this wasn’t worth it for us.

What a gem
What a gem of a find. Initial thought was a lot of steps to get to reception, but once we reached reception we were really happy with what we found. Staff that greeted us were very friendly and helpful. Then found the lift which would have saved us the stairs. This made our stay a lot easier. Our room was a good size, and clean. Bed was comfortable. Nice size on the bathroom. We slept well. The room was very quiet. Breakfast was good. Plenty of choice and fresh items constantly being brought out. Hotel is close to train station and shopping area/ restaurants and pubs. Will definitely be using this hotel again

Overnight stay for cricket.
Excellent pre-arrival information made the trip so much easier. Excellent discount on local parking in a secure car park. The bedroom was larger than we anticipated and at a good price for a city centre hotel. The only gripe would be that the bathroom needed some TLC as it was shabby with missing grout in the floor tiles and earlier repairs to walls was evident.
