Large room, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Food was nice but I was a bit surprised to find that the vegetarian main (possibly vegan, in fact) was more expensive than the meat options, even though the ingredients must have been much cheaper

Carlisle Overnighter

This is my 4th visit to this excellent hotel, always on a one night stay as I am taking the Carlisle to Settle train the next day (must see!). This hotel is a great place to stay, the staff are warm and welcoming, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and I always get a great nights sleep here. Only a 5-10 minute walk from the station, the building is quite old and has a lot of character. Incredible value for money and well located I never consider staying anywhere else if I am staying in Carlisle. The breakfast at 10.50 pounds is well worth the money.

Risk death as we will not give you your money back

I can't talk about my stay, as due to Storm Eowyn (24th Jan 25) All rail travel was canceled in Scotland to England, Police Scotland were advising no one to travel due to the risk to life due to the Red level storm that was due. Scotrail announced about 2pm on Thursday 23rd that there would be no train running on Friday, I went on to cancel my hotel booking, only to find that I would have had to cancel before 12 noon to get free cancellation or change of date!! Hotel.com contacted the hotel to see if due to the "risk to life storm" that was the cause of my cancellation they would waiver the cancellation fee, but the Crown said no! I have stayed in the hotel twice before, and the reason I was going was a music festival, I have my ticket for next year, but will stay in an other hotel.

We had a nice night at the hotel, very friendly staff. The bar is a lovely area to spend some time in. Only problem was the windows in our room rattled all night and sleep was a problem. The bathroom needs refurbished.
