This is a great place if you have kids! They were very nice and the area although located near the freeway is quiet! They have a shuttle that will take you to Legoland and it's literally 7 minutes with stop lights! It was very clean and my 6 year old was even impressed!

The jacuzzi was still broke down and appeared as though there had been no progress towards the repair since my last stay. Other than that, this is an awesome goto place to get away. Wether your doing a staycation or vacation, its affordable, comfortable, and close to a lot of resources. Oh, the front desk did not have a bandaid!

I really was looking forward to staying at this hotel since it was so close to the outlets and some of my favorite local spots. While the hotel has gone through some upgrades the mattresses and sliding doors have not. I was so uncomfortable on the bed that I pulled the bedding up to adjust the mattress and to my surprise a yellowed dingy 20 year old mattress was under there. It makes no sense to upgrade flooring and shelving without also updating the most important part of someone’s stay. It was very disappointing and thankfully a friend came to check out the room before trying to book her family there. Not booking here again; such a waste because this location has great potential.

I likes that there is a lot of shops and such in walking distance. I liked that we had an outdoor seating area as most hotels you cant even open a window. I didn't like that when i booked it it showed a tub and said it in the description but there was just a shower. I also noticed some of the bedding wasnt the cleanest and there was an open plastic wear pack from the previous people. Didnt give me the cleanest vibes.

It's convenient location and the place was clean. Parking is open and it directly in front of street. The building is an old building and the bathroom window did not lock, the adjoining door had a big gap were light came in and back sliding doors didn't open.

Decent Stay for a good price at a great location
Not everyone can afford expensive luxurious hotels. For the price this one is decent -good for families! Pros: Location, very good customer service (check in lady was very nice to our kids), free parking, free shuttle to Legoland, room was was pretty clean, heated pool, it’s walking distance from a mall and food choices are abundant. But there are some Cons: the aesthetic isn’t the nicest b/c there’s a lot of construction with plastic wrapping a section of the hotel, jacuzzi was closed/empty (pool was open though), towels look very worn, pool furniture is torn, not enough places to charge your phone/near the beds and maybe not the most comfortable bed either. Overall sure it’s needs a little TLC but it’s convienent and good for families. If on a budget, we’d say here again I think.

Carlsbad by the Sea is such a hidden gem; only thing we missed — that we were looking forward to — was the hot tub that was closed for maintenance. Everything else was stellar. Would definitely come back :)

Didn't have wash cloths or soap. Coffee machine didn't work. Maintenance man replaced it but left our door propped open so when we returned that evening we were surprised and upset that anyone could have come in our room. We reported it next morning to front desk. We have been happy in the past, staying here, but not sure if we will want to stay in the future.
