When we walked in the room it smelled super bad like cigarettes with a mixture of something and when we were settling our stuff, we were putting our waters in the fridge and when we were walking back to the beds we noticed something was under one of the beds. THERE WAS DOG POOP UNDER THE BED. DISGUSTING. They need to do better with making sure the room is clean before giving it to someone. We did end up moving rooms but still, they need to do better.

The property didn’t have any amenities except a full size fridge and swimming pool which was unclean most of the time. We stayed at the property over 2 weeks and the room wasn’t serviced at all. You have to throw your own trash and to get clean towels you have to lug your dirty ones to the front desk to get them changed out. The beds were really uncomfortable and lacked a warm blanket. The microwave is in an unsafe spot high in the cabinet which made it hard for me to use because I am handicapped and in a wheelchair. The tv didn’t work and it took a week to get it fixed. Last but not least the AC didn't work well.

I should’ve considered the name when booking this hotel (ie. EXTENDED stay). It is basically a low income housing unit. Most of the people staying here- LIVE here- and live here with their pets. The continental breakfast is Quaker oat oatmeal packets. hot water and coffee- that’s it! On the plus side, it is walking distance to Carlsbad village, shops and restaurants .

The room was clean. Towels are clean. It’s close to the freeway, easy access. Close to the carlsbad state beach. Beds are comfortable and soft.

Not worth the price

The front counter staff were friendly. The room however was dirty, the bathroom fan was full of dust and hair, there was hair in the sink, the mattresses were lumpy and very uncomfortable. It was loud and although it was advertised as non smoking it had a faint smokev odor. We checked out after 2 nights. Luckily we were refunded for the 2 nights we didn't stay. In addition it was supposed to be a full kitchen, but you have to bring your own plates, silverware, pans, cups, etc. There is nothing in the cupboards.

I am not sure why this place has a low rating. The rating almost kept me from staying there. I checked it out and decided to try it. So far this is the best motel in Carlsbad as far as I am concerned. I go to Carlsbad because I like the beach. Skip the rating and try this place. You will like it.

This place is a hidden gem. Easy walk down town. Easy walk to food. There is a Mexican takeout that is great a block away. The motel is fairly new and very clean. There is a full kitchen. I have two complaints. A breakfast bar or rolled oats is not breakfast. Second is they do not have coffee in the room so you have to wait tell 6 am.
