Stay elsewhere for convenience

Great proximity to Carlsbad but I really wouldn’t recommend. Unfortunately we arrived on a Saturday night. Café closed at 3pm and was closed the next two days. Which meant we got their complimentary breakfast. That would have been awesome if there were a waffle maker which was promised on their website or if cereal would have been restocked. It was slim pickings. The “grocery” store across the street only has chips, jerky and candy. Not sure what the gas station had but they weren’t open when I drove by. Closest town is 20 min away and I had to drive there twice for lunch and dinner. So you might as well stay in Carlsbad. We used the pool too for my two kids. Bottom of the kids pool was brown with dirt and the water a lot colder than the swim pool. Out of two slides, only one was working. Room was clean and pretty comfortable but the walkways outside of the rooms are littered with cigarette butts and bugs.

A wild deer walked up to get some scratches from us early morning and then disappeared down the road. Great pool and slides. Very close to Carlsbad caverns. Had a great time.

Great place at a great price

We enjoyed our stay. Room was clean with plenty of space for our family of 4. We appreciated that there was a microwave and refrigerator in the room. Location is perfect for visiting Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains. My 7 year old enjoyed the pool, water slide and small water park area. Would 100% recommend.

Would only do one night, reeked of smoke

If you want to be by the caverns, location is perfect. It’s also a good spot that it’s close to National parks and Carlsbad, right in between. My biggest complaint is that they claim to be a non smoking hotel, but we got a “pet friendly” room (when we didn’t need it after all) but you can tell that building used to be the smoking rooms because the smell of smoke was horrible. We were there three nights, and to be honest I regretted that decision. The pool was extremely cold, only one slide was functioning and even my kiddos who love to swim no matter what, didn’t want to stay in too long because it was so cold lol. I would have definitely moved to Carlsbad to another hotel knowing what I know now, but shame on us, I guess we should’ve asked to switch rooms. Plus, you better eat before you get out there or bring food. They do have a restaurant next door that closes at 3, and is closed on Sunday. They do warn you about this ahead of time though.
