Its a lovely old property on fantastic grounds. As expected, the internal decor needs some rejuvenation but it is clean. The dinner option was very good, and the wait service by Barry was great!

Staff were very helpful and the setting and grounds are beautiful. However the hotel itself is run down. Sauna and lift not working. The shower temperature would not stay constant. Carpet in our room was threadbear. The toilet in the public area was filthy had no toilet paper and was like this for 2days. Clearly it had not been checked. The bar did not do food after 8 pm and had closed early. The restaurant food was overcooked and our made to order breakfast lacked some key components. The beds were comfortable and staff responded when we raised issues We would not stay here again unless it has major renovation

Best stay at a hotel for many a year

Our stay was simply superb. Staff were very helpful in rectifying a booking issue which ad all down to me, reception and bar an restaurant staff. The rooms were equally exceptionally. It is impossible to fault the hotel on anything at all. Our best stay at any hotel for many a year.

As always, room was clean & comfortable, we enjoyed a swim in a very clean pool, both dinner and breakfast were delicious with plenty of choice. Staff were friendly, polite and attentive, they are always so helpful.

Nice, old fashioned hotel, with beautiful dining and tea rooms, lying in the middle of splendid trees and green fields (mostly part of the golf course). Bedroom is lacking a bit on the soundproof, but for the rest nothing to complain about. Excellent breakfast and diner.

Had 2 rooms for a wedding at a nearby venue…..unfortunately our rooms were not available due to us arriving before noon. Reception arranged changing facilities and for our overnight bags to be taken to our rooms later as our wedding did not finish till midnight Rooms were slightly dated but clean with tea/coffee water cookies Breakfast in the morning was excellent with a great cooked buffet cereals danish pasteries etc etc (Also small ala carte menu for eggs/pancake/ mackerel) Enjoyable stay although we spent very little time in the hotel All staff were excellent reception -bar and at breakfast

Tired / overpriced

Unwelcoming reception staff. Very tired hotel. Our room key had the number hand written on a piece of paper sellotaped to the fob. Good room size. Room tea and coffee items basic quality. Dinner and breakfast food quality okay. Meal service staff friendly. Overpriced.
