Disliked: Cleanliness
I arrived late and check in was nice and smooth. Air conditioning did not work in my room and there was something left in the fridge which smelled absolutely disgusting. My room phone rang at 06.30am (I had not requested this) Breakfast was good.

My room felt like a palace, and the inner courtyard was beautiful and peaceful. It was convenient to the train and bus stop, but a bit far from the center of Catania, and slightly sketchy neighborhood in between. Breakfast was good - many healthy and fresh options.

8/10 Good

Liked: Amenities
Room was cleaned and well stocked with furniture and bathroom amenities. Outdoor court yard was always dirty and full of plant/leaf clusters on the ground. Tables were untidy with other guests belongings such as glassware, ash trays used etc. Building is on the older, vintage side but that gives it character and the "feels" of Italy. Great breakfast options, fresh and stocked.

6/10 Okay

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The hotel is relatively close to the train station Catania Centrale, what makes easy to an overnight stay if you have an early flight. Even though , the surrounding area of the hotel is not pleasant - it was the first time in Sicily I felt unsafe walking at night. The hotel amenities seems to be old with the wallpaper falling off at some points. Additionally, the hotel staff was ok - during check in, the receptionist asked to stay with my passport and to give me later so he could do the check in process (something I’ve never experienced before), which is course I refuse and waited in the front desk until I could have my passport back. Overall, not a great experience.
