The hotel is an historic gem. As such, the building has aged. There are no level floors, the bed is on a slant, but the worst is the steam heat. When that came on at 10:30pm, the noise drove us out of the hotel.

This is a very old hotel. Pipes running throughout the room. The floor in the room was so slanted, you felt like you were going to topple over. Comfortable and leveled bed. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Definitely OLD historical building that is showing its 100 year old age. No updates at all with swaying floors that squeak with every step. If you’re looking for an old time nostalgic stay- this is it. Sweet, well intentioned staff, but don’t quite know what’s going on…quite an adventure!

Lobby is pleasant with fireplace. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Room could use some shades to make it darker. Loud train passed through about midnight and shook the whole place.

Don’t pay the extra fir breakfast !
Too expensive for what you get. Breakfast was supposed to be included but you only get a ticket worth $ 4.50 per person redeemable at one of the three restaurants on the same street. So you get a coffee and pay the rest of your breakfast!

Wonderful
The hotel is built in the 19th century. Very spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. I slept very well on them. Great location. Near the gorge, covered bridges and not far from the town of Woodstuck. Highly recommend!

Well this was our fault I suppose. Did NOT know train station/tracks directly across street. 2-5 am constant train traffic! Hotel is interesting- lots of history and town is cute ask for a room in the back!

Will not return. Staff was very nice, but other than the lobby, the building is in poor condition. Floors not level, bathtub was painted and paint chipped. Sewer smell when running sink in the bathroom. Baseboard heater not working. Was given the room right next to the elevator. Elevator so noisy that the room shouldn't be used.

This is a very old building. The price was good, and it had everything we needed. The lobby was nice and welcoming. This could be such a cool place with some desperately needed renovations. I’ve stayed in hotels in Boston that were very old buildings, but were beautifully renovated. This place has a ton of potential.

A basic hotel that was clean, however, be aware that the trains pass very close and are very noisy at night. If you are into nostalgia and trains, this is probably your thing!

Absurd Toilet literally sits in shower
Shower and toilet are nowhere near any code in any century. A toilet that sits inside the shower is ridiculous. There are 2 sides missing to the shower and a short curtain using the same floor as the toilet is beyond absurd. The shower water would surround the toilet. Toilet had no knee room so must sit sideways into shower curtain. New bath remodel should be required to rent. Also a portable heater from the closet as the only heat source in Vermont?

We lived the historic feel and look of the hotel. However, there was a light that shined through the blinds all night long. It would have been nice to have room darkening shades. Also the bed and pillows were very hard. It would be nice if you upgraded the bedding.

Terrible mattresses in both a queen room and king room. They sank to the floor. Staff told me they were recently replaced but I'm pretty sure they were original when the hotel was built....50 years ago.

This was a last minute reservation and everything was expensive, but in retrospect, we would pay more to get more. The Coolige is over 1000 years old and is showing its age. The staff tries hard, but it's hard to ignore the condition of the building.
