Tasteful decor, quality tea coffee set up ( French press, lavazza coffee). Staff were very responsive and helpful when we needed to change our reservation.
Very good breakfast.
To be fair the restaurant and bar were very good.
Hotel? Very noisy. If you want to stay up late, close the bar and are a heavy sleeper then this place is for you.
Original room was above the kitchen. A fan or pump went on and off all day and most of the night. Changed rooms and the restaurant and bar noise was bad until late. It was a weekend.
Due to downgrade of room when we moved a partial refund was promised. Not received nor communication returned since.
Obviously not recommended.
Gorgeous room in a comfy pub. Staff were welcoming and friendly, offering tips on walking routes and things to see and do in Winchcombe. The breakfast was excellent and a pint by the fire was welcome after a day's walking.
What a gorgeous place to stay! We loved our room, it felt elegant and comfortable. The staff is superb, very kind and friendly. Highly recommend The Lion Inn. We also had dinner here it was absolutely delicious!

The lion inn is a charming old pub with a pretty garden and we had an okay stay. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean , food was good, and our room was quiet.
However, the property is tired, the shower was tricky, carpet had stains and the wifi didn’t work. Staff were underwhelming and we felt it was overpriced .
The room itself was beautiful and the breakfast was good, however…we had no electricity in our room (no plugs, no TV etc.). We did not realise this until we can home from a wedding by which point reception was closed. I therefore called the reception in the morning and politely asked if they could send someone to take a look - the answer was no because she was working alone and didn’t know what was wrong because the switchboard looked fine. I said fair enough but what time will someone be able to look, she was unable to provide an answer. I understand this is a small pub with a small team but if you are charging £225 for one night, you expect to have electricity or be offered an alternative room or a partial refund.

Great outdoor area for eating, friendly staff, good food, central location.
I loved this inn! We had probably the nicest room I’ve ever stayed in anywhere. Beautifully appointed, newly renovated, absolutely amazing. The restaurant attached to the inn was absolutely fantastic as well.
A lovely 1 night stay at The Lion. Just me and my dog - they are very welcoming to dogs. Room was clean and warm with good quality toiletries and tea/coffee. Bed was very comfortable. I had dinner in the evening which was excellent. The dining area had a friendly, lively atmosphre and the pub in general is a perfect old-style place with good beers on tap but also a gastro-pub style menu and wine list. Breakfast in the morning was also just as you would want it - I had the full English which set me up very well for the day.
Took a walk up to Belas Knap Long Barrow and then Cleeve Hill - both highly recommended if you want to tire your dog out and get some magnificent views yourself!
I only saw the town/village when everything was closed but it looked like it would be well worth a stroll round - I would have liked to stay to browse the second hand bookshop (I tihnk it's called Books & Ink) but sadly did not have time.
Really good stay - I hope to return.
My husband and I spent Christmas at the Lions Inn. The manager and staff, (cheers to our delightful breakfast server) were so professional, kind, and joyful. Lion Inn was a magical place to celebrate the holiday. Excellent room, food, and hospitality and staff.
Beautiful hotel room with a comfy bed and a huge bath, even a turntable and albums. Fabulous stay, the food and the welcome were amazing.

The hotel has a warm friendly atmosphere however there were issues with room 9, the heating wasn’t working and the electric sockets kept tripping out and eventually we had to move rooms late at night. There was no coffee in the second room and we had to raid room 9 for some coffee, good job we still had the key! We were attending a family funeral in the morning and specifically asked what time breakfast was. We were told 8.00 am and as we were due to leave for the funeral at 9 this seemed okay. However at 8 in the morning were told breakfast was not until 9. We ordered something simple. Scrambled egg and bacon butty as we did not want impose on the helpful staff that were in early. The staff did make every effort to help but it took the shine off the stay.
Not helpful when information given the night before was not accurate.
We had a great time at The Lion Inn. The room was lovely, very cosy, comfortable and clean. The staff were really friendly and we would recommend it to anyone travelling to Winchcombe. Perfect location.
