Amazing Hostel and great prices for it being in the heart of downtown. Highly recommend, staff is so friendly and welcoming. There was some staining on the curtains and a couple more stains on the furniture but other than that i have no complaints!

For such a nicely designed hotel by an amazing design firm, I was really disappointed in how dirty the rooms were and the light levels in the room. I love that the bedroom light was dimable, but none of the lights were bright enough. Also, our bedside lights and outlets suddenly stopped working during our stay. As far as lack of cleanliness, I've never been in a dirtier hotel room. Built-up dirt/dust/debris along all the baseboards, built-up on the light fixtures, and especially under the sink and desk; toothpaste splatters on the sink sidewalls, duvet was stain-ridden, what looked to be blood stains on the walls and curtain (which we only had one curtain panel instead of two, thus could not block the light at night). Shelf above the toilet was slanted and our toiletries kept sliding off (breaking one of our bottles on the floor). One elevator was out so the wait time was very long from the upper floors. While the price was right and I appreciated many of the design details, I would not stay here again.

There was only one working elevator and the staff seemed definitely overworked and underpaid for having to maintain the guests and the workload of the establishment. Give those people a raise and fix that elevator.

Funky place, obviously seen better days. Staff was very friendly. One elevator non operational. I opted for the quad hostel-type room. Bathroom with only liquid soap, lockers for belongings, but bring your own padlock. It’s tiny! If you are a cooperative human, it works. I would come again.

One of the elevators was broken the entire time and made getting to our room and events a slight challenge, but hands down NICEST staff. Quickly got us items we needed and answered questions even pre-arrival, quickly and friendly. Check in and out was a breeze. Staying so close to everything was best part. Rooms were small- but we needed the deal

I won’t lie I was skeptical at first. I am so happy with my stay. If I come back I’ll stay here. The area was very close to the train and a lot of the attraction of the city. I was in a women’s shared space. The space was small but I just needed a place to sleep and shower since I was out for most of the day. I rarely saw the other girls that were saying as well. Room service would come as soon as someone checked out and they would make sure we have towels/toilet paper. Thank you Manny at the front desk. He helped me out. The staff was so nice. It was so nice having the bar/lounge downstairs. I can’t wait to come back. 10/10

Upon arriving to our room here, Half of the power in our bunk beds was not working, A/C did not work, and our toilet would only flush once before overflowing (It was malfunctioning, not clogged). We complained about this 3 times to the front staff, and they had told us that they would send a member up to fix this. Long story short, they never came once to look at or fix the toilet, so we would have to take the elevator down 8 stories to the basement to just use the restroom. I’d like to add that there is only one working elevator, and guests were clearly bugged with the long wait times to get where you need to be. If you’re looking for a hotel to feel like you wasted your hard earned money at between low quality amenities and embarrassing customer service, this is the one for you. If there was an option to rate this 0/10, I would. Wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy.

I checked out 15 minutes after I checked in. I paid around $900 for 2 nights. The place was disgusting. I can’t believe this is the quality of place that can exist in river north. The fact that it is 100 plus years old doesn’t justify the uncleanliness and how dirty it is. The bed is very uncomfortable, the light was dirty, the window was so dirty, and the bedding had stains. The walls had so many markers and dirt visible. We could not even stay the night and had to find an alternative place. VERY INCONVENIENT parking.
