I really wanted to like the Moxy Downtown Chicago, but the experience just didn’t justify the price tag. The only real highlight was the lobby — it’s cute and trendy, clearly designed for photos, but that’s where the charm ends. The rooms felt musty, including the bed, and there was an overall damp smell that never went away. The elevator situation was a nightmare — it was down for most of the stay, which meant long, frustrating waits just to get to your room. For what we paid, it should have been at least $200 less per night. Between the maintenance issues, the stale air, and the lackluster comfort, I left wishing we’d stayed anywhere else.

Great place to stay, easy access.

It was a pretty cool place to stay. Had a good atmosphere and if you don't feel like going out on a Friday or Saturday night but still want to do something, there's a DJ and bar in the lobby. The hotel was also situated close to the river, west loop, and the beach, just within a few minute drive, or a 15-20 minute walk I will say though that if you're a light sleeper, or have problem with noise, request a room away from the street, as well as bring ear plugs, because for 6 hours I had to hear the same groups of cars and motorcycles driving around the neighborhood revving their engines until 4am. The staff was willing to comp my breakfast but I refused because despite the noise I still had a good time and I hope to stay there again
