Budget-Friendly Stay with a Disappointing Surprise

I stayed at Wingate by Wyndham in Joliet due to financial constraints, as I usually book with Choice Hotels. The location was convenient, and the room itself was decent for the price—clean, quiet, and comfortable enough for a short stay. However, I was charged $100 after checkout for what the hotel claimed was “baby poop found in the room.” This was not only inaccurate—it was impossible. The children in our party were in my room, not in the room of another guest as was suggested. The only items present were clean diapers, and no mess was left behind. I tried to clarify this with staff, but the charge remained. I understand hotels must maintain cleanliness standards, but I expect those standards to be applied fairly and with evidence. Unless this issue is acknowledged and resolved, I’ll be disputing the charge with my bank. Overall, the stay was affordable, but the unexpected charge and lack of resolution left a sour impression. I’ll be returning to Choice Hotels for future travel.

First and foremost, there was an SUV in the parking lot that the alarm kept going off honking every five minutes from at least 9 PM until 3 AM. I called the front desk. They said they would look into his vehicle it was and apparently they didn’t know. They said that there was a new owner on the property And they were not able to call to have the car towed. Did see the gentleman in the morning drive away in it so the gentleman was staying at the hotel. We had to give our make and model of our vehicle so they should’ve had theirs. Secondly, you’re supposed to have coffee 24 hours a day since there’s no coffee pots in the rooms anymore and every time I went to get coffee, it was empty. Had to go to the front desk to request coffee. Third went down for breakfast. There was one tiny egg half a piece of sausage had to again go to the front desk request more food. It was not time to clean up. They clean up early. People were walking down to get food before they left for the day and there was very minimal amount of hot food. I don’t think I would stay here again. I’ve stayed here several times. Do not recommend.

People were very loud in hallway, sounded like they were in my room. I was right above front desk so they had to hear it and did nothing at 1am. People smoking in hallways and not just cigarettes. Smelled like a pot farm. The breakfast was horrible looking I didn’t even attempt to eat it, just went back to my room.
