Good: Breakfast; also, free cookies, coffee, lemonade while we waited for our room Staff is very friendly and helpful Bed and pillows comfortable Bad: sink had obvious (green) dried toothpaste in it, a dozen or so clear little rubber bands all over the bathroom (so counters and floors not wiped/mopped). Tub/shower looked clean enough but there was a slight moldy smell. Overall about what I expected for an overnight for a longer roadtrip. Childress doesn't have a lot going for it but this Hampton Inn is probably the best place to stay. Walmart next door was convenient, too.

The air conditioning unit in our room was very noisy and kept waking me up. The floor on one side of the bed was wet, possibly from a leak? The coffee was full of coffee grounds. I tried to tell the person on the desk when we left, but don’t now how long I would have had to wait for her to get off the phone.

I had a problem with being bumped years ago from a Hampton because they were overbooked. I had booked over a month ahead of time. I have not had problems since then until our latest stay. My husband, in-laws, & I booked an accessible room with 2 queen beds for 1 night. We just needed a clean, comfortable place to sleep & to shower that had a handicap accessible bathroom. We knew we would be arriving late, so I called earlier in the day to let them know our estimated time of arrival & was assured all was good. When we checked in, the young lady at the desk was very welcoming & efficient. She gave me the key & told me that my room with a king bed was just down the hall. When I explained that I was supposed to have two queens with an accessible room, she started looking & discovered that because they were overbooked, we had been bumped to a different type of room, then said that I should have received a phone call from the manager earlier that day about it. I did not receive a phone call. There were no other rooms to switch to. It was that room or nothing & it was 11:00 in Childress, Texas. We tried, but there was no way that my husband or FIL could sleep on a sofa bed with their backs & the toilet was so short that there was no way my FIL could use it by himself. My in-laws chose to drive home another 2 hours in the middle of the night instead of staying for us to enjoy breakfast together in the morning before parting ways because we were bumped from an accessible room.

We couldn’t stay here even though prepaid. The parking lot didn’t accommodate our trailer. Too bad a property in a small town where only travelers passing through didn’t plan for adequate parking.

Problems with the room key access! Took us 20 minutes from check-in until we were able to get into the second room they assigned us due to lock problems with the first room! Not what you need after 11 hrs of driving. The hotel has become very tired looking with dirty carpets. We've been staying here a number of times over the past 4 years. Very busy and congested access and parking area. Dissapointing! We'll try somewhere else next trip.

Well worth paying the extra to be in a proper hotel set back from the constant 18-wheeler traffic on a busy road day and night. Indifferent attitude of reception staff the only downer - a simple smile and hello would make such a better first impression. Room was fine once the folks upstairs stopped stomping around.

It was obvious the Hampton Inn was once very nice but now needs some work. Hall had carpet that was bleached in spots, toilet had a big crack that was leaking brown water and mildew in bath tub.
