Our stay was absolutely amazing! The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of everything, making it incredibly convenient for exploring. The property itself is charming, with the unique character and ambiance of a vintage pharmacy that adds so much personality to the experience. Added benefits were an elevator, a rooftop with incredible views, and nice hot shower. Juan at the front desk was exceptional—so helpful, friendly, and full of fantastic dinner recommendations. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

This is an excellently located property, So perfect for a visit to the Coimbra University which is just up the very steep street. We loved this historical hotel. All check in is done virtually so please, read the instructions they send you before arrival all the information is there and it is simple and accurate. They give you a code both for the front door and for your room. The room looked onto the beatiful main street, and walking around town was very easy. climbing to the University can be challenging but so worth it and the center of town is just steps from the hotel. Take advantage of the one-hour city tour 'train' that starts on the center square of the University.

This was a fantastic find. The property is very unique and memorable with the old pharmacy decor. It is very well located in the old town on the pedestrian street (you do have a short walk with luggage to get to the location). The room was relatively spacious for a European hotel room and very comfortable. I was concerned about noise from the pedestrian street but the shutters were sound proofed and we had no issue with noise. I would encourage any tourist to Coimbra to look at this property for a stay. Coffee, small muffins and apples were available. Although the guest house operates primarily through guests receiving and using codes to the front door and bedrooms, and so we didn’t have a lot of contact with staff, the staff we did meet were very friendly and helpful with recommendations for dining and tourist sites.

Upon our arrival, our experience was completely unacceptable. We waited hours to get into our room only to discover a wet floor dripping from the ceiling over the toilet (surely they knew but gave us the room anyhow). We alerted staff and then waited a long time to find out we could not be accommodated with a functional clean room. We were told they'd take care of us however, to no avail. We were told a hotel 800 meters away could not accommodate us but decided to call directly and they took our reservation. We felt we were lied to. We booked Pharmacy Guest House due to its 9.6 "Exceptional" review. The toxic odor in the common area toilet mode us nauseous, the amenities sparse and based on the rating program, perhaps Expedia needs to be reevaluated. All in all, it was a terrible experience and because of such, we were late for pre-purchased tickets to an area attraction we had expressly come to Coimbra to visit. We left the property and made other arrangements on the fly.

This was an excellent property. Centrally located. Clean and comfortable. Only negative is we couldn't figure out how to work the A/C remote and the staff didn't know either. But I would definitely stay here again.

Great location and interesting property history. The room was clean with the exception of the main rug being stained. The toilet seat was askew and flimsy. The bedside lamp was unstable and inexpensive. So much is going for this property. With a little upgrade on room interiors and details we would rate it 5 stars.

This was a beautifully restored building. Modern rooms with terrific amenities nestled in an elegantly restored apothecary on one of the main pedestrian streets in Coimbra. Would return to this place again in a heartbeat!

The hotel was a former pharmacy. We really enjoyed that they left the storefront in its original condition. It was like a little museum. Parking was an issue. Not convenient and very expensive. The breakfast options were basically non existent. The rooftop lounge was very nice

I got a great whatsapp with check in details as I was arriving Sunday, basically just doing a whatsapp check in. I found this okay but some older people may not like it that much. My room was really nice and gave me a great view of the parade of St. Fatima (even though I didn't know about it), my only regret was I didn't buy refreshments before as I couldn't go out for two hours because of the fantastic parade. This is a lovely guesthouse with a great host who is trying to operate the business in a more modern way, the only suggestions I would have are things that wouldn't be Portuguese, like a vending machine because no bar or a kettle and tea and coffee in the room not just the reception... So I won't suggest them. Muito Obrigado e Saude.
