Beware of the ridiculous parking charges
The hotel itself is very good, the staff were very friendly and helpful and as it was Xmas they gave us a hand written Christmas card and there was complimentary mulled wine in the bar. What we were not aware of was the parking charges!!!! If you are NOT a IHG member then the parking was £16 for an overnight stay. It was only when I checked in and was told it was free for members. By this point I had already paid it. I am a IHG member which I had forgot about but the hotel couldn’t refund me on the parking so they kindly gave me a credit ti use in the bar.

Surprising Stay!
Reception was amazing, room and shower was great and the breakfast was fab too. For a very reasonable price this was a quality hotel. A shame about the price of parking though.

Good Business Stay
Good stay again. Nice staff, room has everything you need. Breakfast could be improved - not hot enough and the orange juice is not good quality. Overall it's a great hotel for a business stay though and I will use it again.

Good but could be better.
On the whole, a nice hotel. Fantastic staff, always helpful. There were a few issues that let the hotel down. Carpet on ground floor corridor to rooms was loose and tended to bunch up. This would be a trip hazard to those not steady on their feet. The carpet in our room (63) was stained in a number of places, and was looking tired. The door to our room did not close due to rubbing on the carpet. The door to the toilet made a tremendous squeel when shutting and opening. There were stains on the door and wall around the hinges and wall where staff had tried (lazily) to fix the noise. The noise is due to the hinges being stressed and no amount of lubricant will help. Other than these few points, our stay was very good. Disappointed that the lighting was not using led's.

Great stay a Holiday Inn express Colchester
The hotel was clean and very welcoming. The staff were ALL excellent. Very quick to help and have laugh with you. Our room was very spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. Despite being next to the A12 the hotel is very quiet and relaxing. We look forward to our next stay.

Average hotel, parking is £8 per day.
The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. We had a family room and a sofa bed. The sofa bed was very average and not comfortable to sleep on it. We were Very disappointed to find out that parking was charged for £8 per day. This was not advertised when we booked and there was literally no other place to park by the hotel. The hotel is by the motorway so there is no option for street parking
