Good for a short stay
The hotel is well located close to the train station. The room was small and dark, no lamp next to the bed, just one side table. The bathroom door was not closing completely. The bed was comfortable though.

Will be great when it’s finished…
Unfortunately the property was being renovated meaning no bar and some limited facilities which we were not aware of when booking. It’s clear that when finished the hotel will be quirky and fun. It’s in a good location and was good value for the price. Bathroom was dated but room well lit and large enough for three adults.

This hotel has no laundry on site. There was no restaurant and no bar. When I complained to Expedia they apparently sent them a photo of laundry units (which I know for a fact didn’t exist because I was there, in person, and had multiple hotel staff tell me so). They lied to me, lied to Expedia and then Expedia believes them over their customers.

Looks can be deceiving.
Despite the hotel looking pretty and rooms appearing modern we were disappointed with our stay overall. Checking in was easy, even though the young lad at the desk very abrupt and not at all welcoming. Upon entering the room we were initially pleased as it was a very clean and modern looking room but where they have impressed on the look and supplying robes and slippers, they have skimped on the basics. It was warm in Cologne during our stay and our room felt like a furnace, despite the windows being open a little. There was a control on the wall that looked like it operated the A/C but it didn't work. So I went to reception and was told the A/C broken, in which case the hotel should make provisions for cooling the room by at least providing a fan but they didn't have any. This meant we had to try and sleep with the windows wide open until around 7am when builders arrived to start working on the lobby renovation with power tools.This was also when we discovered we'd been eaten alive by insects, so a good night sleep was not had during our stay. For a hotel of this standard I would also expect tea and coffee making facilities, but instead all we had were glasses for the minibar. There was a smart TV but it didn't show any channels and wasn't connected to the internet so was useless. The Bathroom was basic but the shower temp kept fluctuating and the pressure dropped several times. It's also near impossible not to slam the door due to closing mechanism. Won't stay again!

A tale of two nights!
We had 1 horrendous night, and 1 nice night. Being put in a room with with no working air con in 30°C+ weather was totally unacceptable, and despite trying to pretend that it should be working ok, the staff definitely knew the room was a sweat box prior and still left us to endure a shockingly uncomfortable night! For this night we were charged over £200 for a "Deluxe" room! The room change and upgrade for the 2nd night was very much appreciated, and nothing bad to say about this Grand Deluxe room; spacious, clean and best of all Cold!! Location handy for train station, not the nicest part of town, but fine for what we needed.
