Staff was awesome by providing restaurant recommendations and sites to visit. Very efficient check in. The elevator system is confusing. There are parking garage elevators and then there hotel floor elevators. I don’t believe the hotel floor elevators were clearly labeled. A couple of people, like myself, were confused.

The rooftop bar is a real gem! The food is delicious, whether you grab a bite from the bar or order room service. We stayed a floor below the bar, and it can get a bit loud on weekends. On the ground level, there's a huge lounge area, perfect for catching up on work and have meetings.

Koln trip

We stayed 3 nights in Koln to see the sights. The hotel is very closed to the Dom, shopping, the altstadt etc. Very good restaurant options nearby. Dominakaner bar on the corner was a very fun time drinking bier with the locals.

Hit and miss

Hotel was well located near train station and cathedral. Room was large and very clean. Breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, there were a few negatives. Firstly the air conditioning did not work, when we complained to staff they told us that by law they were unable to put on the air con until the summer, don’t think this appears to be the case after some research but rather a Hilton cost saving exercise. If this is the case then the hotel should make this clear and at least provide a fan which was not offered. Furthermore we were woken up at 11.30pm by reception ringing for a delivery order that was not for us. We were also woken several times in the night by loud people shouting on the street after a drunk night out. Not all of this was the hotel’s fault but the attitude from reception was just to apologise and shrug their shoulders. If Hilton want return customers they should empower their staff to actually care about the customer experience.

Best to avoid!

Very disappointing stay at Hilton Cologne for a quick stopover during an extended "emergency trip" by rail caused by the LHR airport closure. The proximity to Cologne main train station is a plus, and the breakfast service is very, very good indeed. But that's where the positive experiences end. The hotel staff at check-in and check-out was less than courteous, very inefficient and could not explain the most basic features of the hotel - like how to get to the lift to access your hotel room, etc.. The signage was also crazy inefficient in the hotel: very small signs which are placed where you actually don't need them (i.e. sign for lift hanging in front of the lift doors, etc.). Queen room with 20 sqm felt very claustrophobic due to a highly inefficient layout - with very limited floor space around the bed and in the small hallway to the room door. The bath room looked nice, but my shower head could not be fixed to it's railing and constantly fell down when showering. There was also visible black mold in the shower cubicle, and thus, neither basic hygiene nor functionality standards were met. The mattress was very soft and so were the pillows - a clear sign of age. Had a very uncomfortable night and did not get a good rest. Room also felt stuffy despite the available aircon system. Overall, the price/value ratio is unacceptable - so was the unfriendly "lah di dah" attitude of the hotel staff. At no time is your Hilton Honors status of any help, nor is it acknowledged.
