Go with the local options!
I go on roadtrips and stay at many motels. If I can, I always like to choose a local option and not a chain. I find that local options go above and beyond to compete with the chains and this place was no exception. The room was very comfortable and I enjoyed the amenities that the motel offered. Bath tub, comfy bed, k-cups, many continental breakfast options, and dog friendly. They even had a little dog run for my husky to sniff around. I also enjoyed the 50s/60s kitschy atmosphere. It’s places like this that make roadtrips fun and memorable.

Wonderful respite
Really enjoyed the spacious room and bath. Beds were super comfy. Only drawbacks were the sound of water when pipes were running and the broken blow dryer.

I loved the Retro Inn! I could only stay overnight, but I would love to return to Cortez and spend time exploring the area. I arrived at 1 a.m. The lobby closes at 10 p.m., but they sent me a passcode to open a lockbox where I found my door key. I did have a difficult time opening the door - original locks, perhaps, but once inside, I loved my room. The bed was so comfortable that I fell asleep fast and stayed asleep. It was quiet and had everything I wanted or expected for a budget stay. In the morning there was coffee and friendly people. The place is a 1950s (older?) motel and is cute as can be.

This is the best motel I've ever stayed in.
Clean, affordable, hot showers with an awesome showerhead, and the room didn't smell like fragrances and air fresheners. Zero complaints. I absolutely loved it and would stay again.
