This property is so run down it is pathetic. We stayed in partial garden view and got a great view of the roof where the air conditioning is. It was room 318 and considered the older section. The tv was so small you could barely see it from the bed. We would have asked for another room but my partner is handicapped and it was too much for him to move again. The ceilings were pealing apart, they used electrical tape to seal out leaks in the bathroom, however the toilet leaked everywhere and there was a panel on the ceiling that was caved in. The swim up bar is dirty and nothing is sanitary. I’m not sure how they clean their cups but I’m sure they don’t use a dishwasher. The drinks are crappy too. They don’t have good liquor that’s for sure. Who knows what their mixes really contain. Very sub standard. The beach was dirty and the docks were unsightly. The only redeeming factor was our cleaning maid was very nice and so were some of the employees. There was one manager at the front desk that was a jerk. We will never go back to that particular hotel again.

Never Cleaned our room
They never cleaned our room the entire time we were there (4 days). I inquired about it 5 times, and they never did anything. The "maid service please" sign was on our hotel door handle most of the time and they ignored it. I asked the front desk quite a few times if i could get soap, toilet paper, clean towel, etc...... I ended up waiting 90 mins to take a shower because I was waiting for the soap. They kept telling me, "a few more mins." Eventually, I just got soap from my friends who were also on vacation. Other than that, I enjoyed it. The cleaning situation was the only thing I can complain about. I would recommend to bring your own towels, shampoo, soap, etc.... if you stay there.

Review accurate as of 01/10/2025 Booked 3 rooms 2 were not only wrong but completely different from each other looked nothing like the booking, rooms had mold, the ceiling was falling in on one the dining was bland and unlabeled mostly just chicken and hot dogs, and what might have been ground beef, they couldnt make any standard drinks, ran out of beer, were pouring liquor from unlabeled bottles the resort is a scam just dont do it

Very old resort The property needs extensive update. Room had only one outlet and it was behind night table. Friends accompanying didn’t have water for 2 days and no hot water for 3 The « all- inclusive » portion is sad. Food extremely poor and limited, drink are all 3-4 pre-made sugar mix with the cheapest alcohol. Despite the all-inclusive we ate out every night. There is a « diner » option with a little more options… But you have to get up at 7:30 am and line up for 1 hours in hopes to get a voucher for the night’s dining!!! Cozumel is beautiful, diving is exceptional but this resort does not hold compare to the competition.

Do not waste your time staying here. The front desk staff were rude any time you asked a question. The very limited options for food were extremely poor. The food at the buffet was horrible. The room we got was more than outdated. Drawers had rusty screws sticking out. Beds are hard and old. Old bedding and blankets. Spend your mo ey anywhere else but here

I was not at all impressed with this resort, and regret my decision of staying there. I pay extra money to get a nicer room, and king bed, yet get put in an old ran down room with 2 full sized beds. When I brought this to their attention, they basically said deal with it, and try to get a new room tomorrow. I should get what i paid for to begin with!!! I found hairs in the sheets, shower, and sink. Blood on the curtains. The beds were hard as a rock. Showers were not warm. A/C did nothing. No refrigerators. Bars are supposed to close at 11, yet closed at 10:15 every night. The food was the same for lunch/dinner everyday, and 6 out of 7 days they would not let us order off of the menu because “we can have the buffet”. The one day we were able to order off of the menu, we were only able to choose between quesadillas and nachos, that’s it from a full menu. The restaurant is the exact same food as the buffet, just served to you. Staff are not friendly. It felt like an inconvenience anytime I wanted to order a drink. They only had 1 type of beer and it was tap, no canned drinks at all. Mixed drinks were terrible. Our last 2 days, servers would ignore us and only serve the people around us. Pools were also dirty. My advice would be to pay the extra couple of hundred dollars and stay somewhere else. The only positive thing I have to say about this place is that the beach was nice, and that’s it. My group loved cozumel, but this resort ruined our experience.

Just came back from a 7 day trip. Just know this is kind of a no frills all-inclusive. Food at the buffet was plentiful but nothing fantastic. At breakfast the made to order omelets were excellent as were the tacos at night. Burgers & hot dog buffet all day was good in the bar area (ask for fries or nachos). Drinks were good (ask for double shots if you want booze in them..lol). Staff are plentiful, incredibly nice and work hard (tips appreciated). Beach is awesome. Snorkeling was great right from beach. We had a room on 9th floor (skyview) and it was really nice, super clean and the view was beautiful. No entertainment at night at the resort but you can take a cab into town anytime for about $10. We rented a buggy for $55 per day from HTL and drove all around the island. Over all we loved and will go back for sure.

The ac didn’t work well in our room, bed was uncomfortable and I found hair in the shower on arrival. Check in process was difficult and time consuming. Didn’t receive our towel cards or safe key resulting in 2 trips back to the lobby. The buffet was awful and the restaurant was difficult to get a reservation for. We had to wait in line for 45 to attempt to get a reservation and after about 10 people booking for multiple rooms, we didn’t get a reservation. We went out for food and had a great experience. There was little entertainment which is something I’ve never experienced when vacationing in Cozumel. The money spent was not worth it. Overall we will not be returning to this resort.

The property is old and there is some need for upgrading things like beds and shower stalls/tubs…but we go there again and again because the staff is wonderful. The beach is beautiful with some of the best snorkeling we’ve ever seen. Our housekeeping lady (Mercedez) was so kind and by the end of the week we were best friends. It’s a treasure in Cozumel…we know there are nicer hotels but we will probably keep going to El Cozumeleño forever. If you are a princess who needs every aspect of service to be impeccable, this isn’t your hotel. If you travel to other countries to experience the culture and get to know some of the locals, and can appreciate hard work and effort made on your behalf, you’ll be happy there.

Nothing good to say about this place . Leaking water trough the wall, black mold on the bathroom ceiling and shower door frame , bathroom door and in shower tiles . Bed was like sleeping on box springs and no mattress. Food was not to good and drinks watered down . Building and just about everything else is falling apart. Can’t recommend this place to anyone .

Lets start with the pros great snorkeling Cons food isnt great but you get what you pay for. Talking to someone who stays a month at a time for the last 25 years says they fired all of the staff at the beginning of the year. They changed a lot of the good qualities that made him come back year after year. I believe thing may get better here as they train newer staff but id save ur money and spend it at a well known establishment for another 50 to 100 per day.
