I booked my trip on Orbotiz and it showed to me a 4 star ALL inclusive resort. An All inclusive means ALL is included however when I got there they tried to upgrade me to what they call Level for an additional $566 for 7 days on top of the $2600 I already paid, I declined. So none of the top tier alcohol(Titos, Patron etc) was included, only well was part of my package. Then at restaurants, if you wanted the lobster, good seafood or even pizza, they charged US dollars extra to get those. You are pretty much stuck with the buffet for every meal. I would not recommend this resort and will never be back. At best this is a 2.5-3 star resort. I was very disappointed in my entire stay. The stay was very nice though.

I was very disappointed with the swimming area in the ocean in front of the property, the water was brown. I had read a lot of reviews that stated this resort had excellent snorkeling there is no way you could snorkel in the ocean at the resort. Also the food was the same everyday, you have to make reservations as soon as you get there which we were not told. The staff was great. The beach itself was very nice just not once you got to the water.

This was an excellent place to stay. Our Level room was huge! A bottle of wine waiting when we got there! Fully stocked Mini fridge. And the bathroom was perfect for women with a place to get ready outside the toilet area. And cottenlle toilet paper! Fully stocked shower with body wash, shampoo and conditioner. The property was well kept and taken care of daily. The staff was phenomenal. Helped us every day, took care of us, and were so kind. Highly recommend getting the Level Grande room. Private area to sit during the day on tiki loungers, private snack bar, concierge service, and they make your reservations. There was not one thing to complain about with this property. Buffett was excellent, as were the restaurants. Drinks were good, bartenders were so fun and kind. We would go back!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Melia. The hotel is older, but the rooms have some modern touches and are VERY clean. I do think the ol' girl is due for a full renovation but overall, no complaints about the hotel itself. The food was good, the drinks were plentiful, and the beach and pool areas are very nice! The staff are all incredibly warm, and go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying yourself. We had Santiago as our concierge, and he was amazing. Ian (beach side and pool), Jose (at breakfast buffet, cooking excellent omelets!), the staff at The Fish House, at Mole, at the Mediterranean tapas restaurant outside - each and every one of them made our stay feel special. The entertainment each night was a lot of fun too. I would give this a solid "A" if I am letter grading, and a well earned 4.7 out of 5 on a number scale. The deduction is only due to the hotel being a bit dated. My family and I look forward to returning!

The hotel's location is inconvenient, far from local attractions. Cost of taxi to downtown is $20, one way. The best days of the rooms are already behind them, and the operational damage is very visible. The hotel beach is OK but the water is cloudy and full of seaweed. The food is monotonous and average. All drinks taste the same and are super sweet. The compensation is the hotel service, which tries their best and is of a high standard

While we enjoyed our stay, our room was right on the beach, the beach was covered in seaweed and plastics trash. This could be managed by having an early morning crew clean up and maintained during the day. It was three days before the first clean up attempt. The water was murky which seems to be the norm rather than the exception. We are enthusiastic swimmers so we would walk to the beach next door for a swim in clear water. The adults only pool was spotless but too cold to use an option so always empty. The food options are limited in the buffet but the Fish House and Mole restaurants are very good. Shout outs to Jorge in the buffet, with such a cheerful disposition, Hector in the Level, for organizing the restaurants for us, and Geraldo at the Level towel shack for exceptional interactions and beach service. Evanelly is also an exceptional staff member.
