Inside looked well maintained and clean but bench seats in bar very uncomfortable, window didn’t shut in bedroom, toilet seat was broken, scalding hot water so burnt myself as water pressure varied on top floor. Floor had recesses in so not level and frightened would put foot through floor, breakfast was nice but avoid black pudding it was overcooked to the extent it was a crisp. Receptionist was just about pleasant as well as the barman didn’t want to speak to you other than bare minimum.

I really loved the quite night and the amazing sun rise from my room with the beach view and the hills. The breakfast is very good and tasty. I would like to just highlight to pay more attention to small details in regarding the cleaning., but overall a nice experience. Thank you.

Room was very dusty. There were cobwebs in various places. The room could’ve done with a lick of paint and modernised. The staff were pleasant and the communal areas had some charm, but again, could do with a bit of touching up. I didn’t mind the hotel because it gave me nostalgia to a bygone era, but to somebody looking for a modern hotel, this is not for them.

Lovely old hotel

This hotel has a fantastic chef who prepares meals to perfection. The hotel is conveniently situated to the beach. Also good for exploring the peninsular. Old fashioned but quaint and I would recommend staying here. Easy parking. Friendly staff.

Food options were very poor for me being allergic to eggs and anything hot-spicey. The evening meals we had on our 2 day stay were excellent, tasty and well cooked. Breakfast left a bit to be desired. Poor choice of cereals and very little choice for people who don't like the "full english" option. However our room was nice, spacious and comfortable bed.

Very disappointed

Very dirty room. Website is misleading as the photos are nothing like the reality. Awful smell when you arrived. Had to go in a bar to check in with two young children. Reception was closed. Breakfast was terrible. Beds uncomfortable. Rooms were very hot. My husband never complains and even he thought it was terrible. Would not return sadly. The photos are just two of so many I could have taken but I couldn’t be bothered to be honest. It was just dirty

Overall great stay

Our stay here was lovely. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The only down side, is the choice of Rose wine. Only one (Zinfadel) which I do not like, so I was unable to enjoy my normal Rose with my dinner. Strongly suggest, that they give another choice.

A short Break.

This was my second visit to The Lion. The hotel offers excellent service at a very reasonable rate. The staff are friendly and the food on offer is very good and at a very competitive price. I would highly recommend this hotel.

A Delightful Stay with Exceptional My recent stay was truly wonderful, and a significant part of that was thanks to the fantastic staff. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with genuine warmth and efficiency. Check-in was seamless, and the reception team was incredibly helpful. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, providing a peaceful haven after a day of exploring. I particularly appreciated the convenience of the kitchenette in the studio apartment - a real bonus! The views of the town and castle from my window were an added treat.
