We typically come to Deadwood 3-4 times per year the last few years, and stay somewhere different each time. This was by far the worst hotel that we have stayed. First off, I accidentally booked a smoking room- how is this still an option?! I had no idea there was such a thing anymore. It wasn’t updated since 1970 I swear. Other hotels have enough photos to know what you’re getting into (Victorian antique bed/furniture) but this was truly stale cigarette smoke absorbed from the curtains, to the yellowed ceiling, to the shower curtain. Next the beds and pillows were the hardest and flatest that I have ever experienced. In a two queen room, I tried grabbing other pillows from the bed and they were exactly the same! 2” thick! The mattress sunk in in the center, it had enough use 32 years ago. Don’t forget slippers on this trip as the carpet is probably from the late 1800’s….. mushy. This hotel is a red ex from here on out. Never will forget this gross stay.
