The good:
The room was clean and cozy. The view on the balcony we had to walk through to get to and from our room was gorgeous. We got in super late at night so had to do self check in which was super easy.
The bad:
I’d had a bad feeling about this place ever since making the reservation, but I didn’t catch that it was nonrefundable, even months in advance. So we were stuck with it. A refund for cancelling in advance is pretty standard. If something had come up or plans had changed, we’d have been out a lot of money.
The ugly:
On Expedia, the room I booked listed “Free breakfast” as an amenity, so naturally, the price of the room should have included the breakfast fee listed in the property details. However, when we walked downstairs for breakfast in the morning, we were told it would be an extra fee that was 33% higher than the fee listed in the property details. That’s a bit absurd. On top of that, the man that gave us this information must not have had his coffee yet because he was particularly grumpy and impolite. After informing us that breakfast would be an extra fee, I asked if I hadn’t already paid for that, he sternly said “no” in a pretty rude tone that my wife and I both felt communicated that we were ignorant for even considering such a thing. This interaction completely ruined our experience. We promptly packed up and left to go eat elsewhere.
