I liked the fact that it wasn’t the most expensive hotel room on the planet but it wasn’t great either. It was just so so. It poured for the entire first night and what do you know I couldn’t get a single tv channel to come in, not a one. It just said signal loss. Oh well, thank goodness for cell phones. I was able to watch tv on the little screen in my hand.

We use the property almost every time that we fly into Des Moines. Nice-sized rooms are quiet despite proximity to the airport. Free airport shuttle makes access easy. Desk staff are pleasant and welcoming and efficient. Hy-Vee grocery store within easy walking makes self-catering easy. The complementary continental breakfast has adequate options. (They now use compostable plates instead of styrofoam. Cutlery is still plastic.) Rooms have adequate storage. Beds were comfortable and the air conditioning unit was fairly quiet. There is a Perkins Restaurant next door, but not many other dining options in the immediate area. The motel area is not conveniently served by public transport, so you would need your own wheels to visit local tourist sites or shopping malls. But as a convenient place to sleep after a long international flight, it is great.
