Love coming back to the hotel for staycation, it is convenient, safe, hotel staff are very accommodating and helpful, its close proximity to the library, park, Christmas tree lighting and fireworks huge plus! Will be back . It is a home away from home
We got this hotel on hotels.com but when we arrived she informed us they didn't have rooms for us and were overbooked. The gal at the hotel was extremely nice about it and did what she could ( contacting hotels.com to cancel our reservation.). My fingers are crossed we get our money back from Hotels.com as we weren't the one to cancel PLUS had to go out and find another hotel room for the night.
Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. Pictures showed a hot tub, but there was not a hot tub. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel, so was very disappointed.
Stayed at this hotel for 5 days and enjoyed every minute of it. My son had a swim meet in Downtown Des Moines but we opted to stay a little bit further away. Hotel has been in operation since 2018 but we thought it was new— well-maintained and really clean, staff very polite and helpful. Breakfast had a full assortment of hot and cold items. Could have included bacon on one of the days, but totally not an issue. Would definitely stay here again if we’re back in town.
Residence Inn by Marriott, District Area, Ankeny. Check-in great. Kids used pool and adults used workout facility; everyone enjoyed. Breakfast good. Parking at hotel great! At night, we learned there was a leak in the bedroom window and water was dripping down and hitting the windowsill (puddle on sill and floor in front of it). Notified front desk and they said only thing they could do (because they were booked full), was downgrade our room to a one bed instead of our 2 queen bed room, but they were going to charge us the same price since we booked 3rd party and not directly through them. Obviously not going to work for our family; so we tried to muffle dripping sounds with towels. They became soaked and stained from whatever was causing the drip. Didn’t think the sound of a drip could keep me up all night, but it did.
Frustrating that it happened. Further frustrated the only solution was to downgrade us and charge us the same. Insulted by no attempt to make it right or discount anything. Further insulted by excuse of booking by 3rd party was reason why we were going to be charged full price even if we accepted their downgrade. The rub is we are members of their hotel program - we just chose to use 3rd party because we had rewards to use. Guess we need to evaluate using 3rd party in the future….Or canceling that hotel membership and going with a hotel chain that treats their guests (no matter how they book) better when the hotel gives you a faulty room.
Went for a two night stay w kids for a family event in town. Room was cleaner than the remainder of the property. Was given keys to an occupied room when we got there and had to switch floors. Pool is not heated well or maintained well. Pool bathroom was disgustingly dirty and no pool towels, when called to get some they had us come to the front desk dripping wet to get them. Same when we requested towels for tge room. Poorly ran with enough employees that dont care and you can tell. Will NOT stay here again.
The room was spacious, but there were plenty of cleanliness issues. Greasy finger print smudges on the doors, orange mold covered the bottom foot of the shower, and the toilet seat was dirty from whoever stayed there before to name just a few things. The room was also very stuffy because the AC was built on the living room side of the wall. Overall I wasn't pleased for the area, amount of money spent, and level of excellence I expected to see.
Food - 5/10 (not fresh, not great)
Beds - 3/10 (firm bed, sacks of air for pillows)
Front Desk 2/10 (hid in back office, took way to long to get service)
Pool was closed because they put too much chlorine in it, and then proceeded to tell me "Our maintenance guy lives nearby but he doesn't know how to answer his phone" as the reason why they weren't fixing it.
I very well could have stayed at a Super 8 and got better customer service at least. It wouldn't have looked as nice, but it probably would have been about as clean.
