The gentleman let us check-in a day earlier because we came from New York and made good time to Michigan. He had to charge mme $20 extra because all he had left was king size beds. It was very clean, had a microwave and a mini fridge. It also has a elevator which I like because our room was on the 3 floor and we had a lot of stuff.

Review of American Inn Suites, Detroit Metro Airport – 2/5 Stars I stayed here for one night in April 2025 due to its low cost and proximity to the airport, along with a shuttle service. While affordable, my overall experience was disappointing. The Positives: 1. The front desk staff were kind and accommodating. 2. The shuttle to DTW Airport was free and convenient. 3. Basic amenities like towels, soap, and a clean bed were provided. The Negatives: 1. The room was in poor condition: holes in the walls, a torn decorative blanket, and a bathroom with brown stains on the shower floor and a cracked light switch plate – a potential safety hazard. 2. The "continental breakfast" was subpar, offering stale bread and muffins, cereal without milk, and a rusty toaster. 3. Staff dressed unprofessionally in casual attire, diminishing the hotel’s overall image. 4. The shuttle ride back to the airport included a minor accident due to reckless driving, which caused delays. Summary: Despite a few upsides, the many negatives—including room disrepair and unprofessional standards—made this stay unpleasant. I’m glad I only stayed one night. I would recommend anyone in the future to consider booking a hotel elsewhere.

Easy to find

Easy to find location. Front desk staff was friendly and efficient. Room was fine. The lamp was a little concerning. Did not dare to plug anything into it. Disappointed in the breakfast. Pictures showed a waffle maker, but there wasn't one. That was one of the main reasons we picked this hotel.

A few college students and I stayed here during a long overnight layover, so we just wanted something affordable and close by to sleep for a few hours. Given these expectations, this hotel met all of our needs. The staff were great, and the airport shuttle was a big help. The room itself was definitely old, but it was mostly clean. Only complaint really was the walls were very thin, so you can hear a lot of footsteps and nearby chatter. But for $67, you can't really complain!

The airport shuttle wasn’t running when I landed or when I needed to leave in the morning. The lights didn’t work when I got to the room I had to turn my flashlight on on my phone and get to the lamp next to my bed. And there was a thin sheet and a thin blanket.

While staying there we lost power due to a storm and we were told there was nothing they could do. We could either leave and try to get a refund or just stay there with no power. Once the power went out the staff left. The power was out for nearly 3 hours and there was no generator to get power back. If I’m staying at a hotel I would definitely not expect to be out of power for hours. Plus my grandma left her ring there and called and asked if it was found. She was told they would look and she never received a call back..

Basic but satisfactory and good value.

This is not the Four Seasons, nor does it pretend to be. It's basic accommodation, but the two rooms I saw (320 and 322) were clean and very well prepared, with clean bed linen, towels, face cloths and so on. The shower worked just fine, and though everything was a bit old, it was in good order. The shuttle left on the dot at 5 am, as promised, and the drivers in both directions were nice. I have seen some unpleasant reviews of this place, but for me it hit the spot. My flight had been canceled and I needed a bed. For $80 a night, this is as good as it gets.

Good for travelers on a budget

The room was okay for the price. The cleanliness was alright, but the walls and AC unit were visibly dirty. The shower floor was also visibly dirty, but it washed away with a shower. The corners had collected dust, but the rest of the room was fine. The TV doesn't really work on its own, bring your own device if you want to use it. Honestly though, the shuttle service is very convenient and the parking is some of the cheapest in the area. 100% a case of you get what you pay for. It's very cheap, and that's why I stayed. Breakfast and WiFi included, overall pretty standard fare.
