I booked a room at this hotel and had a terrible experience. The room had two double beds and one of them was broken. When I sat on the bed the other end flew up in the air. I was not able to use the bed. The tub was disgustingly dirty and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. There was also hair and dirt on the perimeter of the tub. We also had several bugs in the room and one crawling on the broken bed. When I called and complained, the front desk told me they had no other rooms available so they couldn’t even move us to a different room and there was no other staff there so they couldn’t attempt to come fix the bed but he would leave a note for the manager. I complained to the manager and was given a 50% credit and 15% off my next stay. I will never stay at this hotel again and highly recommend finding a different hotel if you are tempted to book because of the cheaper rates.

The 1St rooms balcony was cover in bird feces and feathers which they tried to clean but I asked for a different room, then 2nd room I noticed the baby scratching a lot, pulled linens back and there were bedbugs.I don't feel like we should have paid for such conditions. Taking baby to doctor today.Also, there is a very strong odor throughout the hallways that smell like a mechanics shop. NEVER AGAIN!!! I feel like my nephews birthdays were ruined !!!Not satisfied

The bed was fairly comfortable and it was in a convenient spot for my travels. The only negative thing was that I could hear people from the pool all the way in my room.

There was a brown stain on the wall in my room. The staff quickly cleaned it. Not a good first impression. They said it was “candy” stuck on the wall. Down the hallway the cleaning lady was screaming really loud about something. I just stayed in my room and kept the doors locked.

The most disgusting place we've ever stayed. The hallway carpets are dark with dirt. The lobby gives an elegant feel until you see where the rooms are located—outdated decor, spider webs in the rooms, and hair in the bathroom showers. And the " green" lighting makes the rooms so dark. The balcony was covered with cigarette butts. I would not recommend this to anyone outside of people who abuse substances. It was an extremely scary place to be in.

The rooms don’t look anything like the pictures, the lobby was the only thing that was nice and so was the staff but the property needs updating. The hallway carpet was very dirty and rooms smell like smoke.

Not clean and walls are thin

Me and my husband booked a jet tub room with a balcony (which turned out to be something we couldn’t even sit on and enjoy the view because it was tight) the room was not clean and had ants so we was moved to another room that was not clean and showed evidence of the previous guest so we was moved again. Every room was dusty with bugs, bed was hard and very uncomfortable. It was loud with guest in the hallway and our room was located next to the outdoor pool so it was loud. We booked two nights and only stayed one night, I just couldn’t take it anymore. I would never stay at another Wingate again

Weird smell?

First time staying in Detroit, I read a lot of reviews for this hotel and none of them mentioned this specific mildew smell the entire 3rd floor had. We opened our room for the first time and my friend said "it smells like the inside of a cat's mouth." There wasn't any ventilation in the bathroom which would have helped a lot. The beds were nice, I enjoyed the balcony, and the staff were nice, but the cigarette butts by the elevator and overwhelming mildew smell outweigh that in my opinion.
