Just a stop over for us on our way west, but loved our stay, and think we will return for longer to explore the area - only if we can stay in The Bay Tree!
Lovely quiet and relaxing stay, just what i needed.

VAT receipt
I've no idea if this is a good hotel or not, I booked it for two sub contractors that were working in the area. I have now been trying to get a VAT receipt for almost a week, there only appears to be one member of staff... I have emailed and left voicemails & I still haven't got one. They did send me an online receipt of some sort, but it had no VAT breakdown or VAT reg no. This is really frustrating, as I have to have a VAT receipt in order to claim my money back from work and I have better things to do, than to keep chasing it.

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
Owners away and lady covering not on site on arrival. TV situated in bed but did not work. Would not come out of slot. Lady did not offer replacement or anyone to fix it. Shower cubicle edges dirty. Holes in sheets on bed. Carpet edges very dusty and dust on ledge in bathroom. Not really worthy of 4 AA star . No restaurant or bar despite advertising.
Exactly what I would have expected for a star rating it has, breakfast was exelent with a huge choice of options, owners were very accomodating to an early start.
Our stay was really comfortable. Gary (our host) was extremely helpful, first trying to order us a taxi to visit the Hardy Cottage and House, and then, when that proved fruitless, driving us to the Cottage himself, refusing to accept any payment for doing so.
