Dunkeld is beautiful and so relaxing. They have a lot of activities and their restaurant's food is absolutely amazing! The room was beautiful and the bed is very comfortable. I would just not recommend the quad bike ride...that was really a waist of money.
I actually expected more when it came to the restaurant and the service for this price.
I expected a restaurant with more elaborated menue and meals and i expected a better service from the staff. It took to long to order and to get any attention from the staf and especially in the morning at the breakfast buffet where you constantly had to point out missing playes and food/drink items missing.
But the whole Estate is absolutely lovely and we will return when the weather is better as we did not get ro do the horse riding due to bad weather. But we will only return when we find a better prices.

So much potential - but fell horribly short.
Unfortunately, the room's TV remote and satellite decoders were not in the room upon arrival and the room's fireplace (Morso) was broken. Required no less than 3 phone calls and a visit to reception to get TV to work. Unfortunately they couldn't fix the fireplace, room was freezing and there were no alternative sources to heat the room (no heaters / AC's etc).
Furthermore, massive hole in the carpet.
Just a quick note - there's a further R180 conservation levy to pay when you arrive which is not disclosed via Hotels.com
So much potential as the setting is amazing - but maybe we were just unlucky,

Liked: Staff & service, room comfort
The estate is beautiful. The restaurant serves very good food at good prices. But one of room stank of smoke and had no heating (it was 4C outside in the evening) and staff would not do anything until I very firmly asked for another room.
In the morning running around the estate I got to see zebras, springboks and water bucks. So very happy stay in the end.
The place is beautiful, no doubt, and if you want a quiet get away then this is for you.
I did find the roads and lighting around the estate to be rundown somewhat, and that I feel is not good.
Everything else is truly beautiful.
Most unprofessional Estate. I made a booking on Monday for a Friday, Saturday and Sunday but the very same Monday when the booking was made I found out that my aunt passed away. I immediately informed Hotels.com about my cancellation requests and they immediately informed Dunkeld Country Estate and requested a refund. Dunkeld Country Estate did not look at the situation from my humility and sympathetic point of view, they just referred us to their Terms and Conditions. So in my time of bereavement, I was then felt fighting Dunkeld Country Estate for a refund, as this situation was beyond my control. This company is very unprofessional and puts profit above all things but I will continue to fight this fight
The hotel facilities is out dated, resort staff is unfriendly and unhelpful, the Shop is not stocked with supplies with is an inconvenience over school holidays.
The rooms are very dirty, furniture outdated, sleeper couch and beds in the bedroom is broken dirty and disgusting. Kids cant play outside and ride bicycles as Staff drives around the resort at high speeds day and night.
This is a huge let down to the area and for the resort it once was.
Our family had the same experience two years back and sad to see that this did not change.
We will no longer travel or recommend Dunkeld Estate as a holiday or corporate get away.
Cottage needs a reno. Geyser heating up every 10 minutes 24 hours a day. Making a terrible noise during the night. Mouse in roof making it hard to sleep. Not cleaned top to bottom. Dirt on top op fridge and light fittings. Dangerously boiling hot water out of hot tap. Geyser problem. Mini golf clubs all broken and only a few available. Only tennis racquets for children. Seems a bit run down at the entertainment centre.
This is a beautiful place. Especially the equestrian site. I wish to own one of the houses.
Can they give themselves time to spring clean the units especially after every check out.they have enough time to do that. They should also maintain the units properly
Why do we have to pay conservation fees? We stay for business? There is nothing in the small right. This makes staying overnight very expensive. Thank you
