Loved this hotel! Wish we stayed longer than 2 nights. Great location close to lots of shopping and dining. The breakfast at the cafe downstairs was AMAZING! Irine at the front desk was super nice and accommodating. Loved that we were able to have our luggage held before and after our stay. We will return.

Great location, nice place, but no view fr room

Great location, just a 5 min walk from the metro - and theres actually a sneaky way that makes it even closer that we didnt know about til we left - they have an elevator that goes down below the bridge where theres no foot traffic making walking w/luggage a breeze and goes straight to the train station. They had a full restaurant and offered an AYCE order off the menu breakfast at a very reasonable price - 18 euros a person i think? Comfortable bed, nice soaking tub. Tub and shower are separate so you can enjoy a Japanese style bath if you wanted. Only downside is that the room i got was a "city view" and our view was just a brick walk. We joked about how bc the room came with photographs of the city on their walls that that was made it "city view" lol. However, we don’t travel to just look out the window of our hotel. We wanna get out there! I'd just say dont bother paying more for a room that claims to have a view. I'm sure some do but you may not be so lucky. Again, location was great. Not only dist to metro but to the heart of Edinburgh- minutes from Calton Hill w/a great view of the city and all the shops/restaurants/castle.

Apex Waterloo is a fantastically located hotel as so many things Edinburgh has to offer is within walking distance: Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, Holyrood, and more. The parking garage is right around the corner and there is a large indoor shopping mall in the same vicinity. Our room was comfortable enough for three (two adults and one 11-year old), with my daughter sleeping on a pullout couch. The shower was large and the water warm. The only thing about the hotel we didn't prefer was the dining experience. The staff was incredibly nice and attentive, so no issues there, but we weren't fans of the food itself. It may be how scrambled eggs are prepared in Scotland, but they aren't what we're used to as we cook ours longer. But, I feel food experiences are a bit more personal than other aspects of travel so I'm aware others will have differing opinions. Overall, I feel this hotel is a great option when staying in Edinburgh and would recommend this to others in the future. My wife and I have already discussed staying there again when we return. Enjoy your stay!

Another excellent stay- hotel is friendly, very convenient for station, shops, walking around the city. Rooms spacious, spotlessly clean, and quiet even with heavy traffic around - the double glazing really works. Breakfast good.

Great location

Good location - nice bar and good amenities. We didn’t use them but we looked at the pool and gym - both were great. Nice Bar and excellent breakfast. Kind of pricey for breakfast but worth it if you like to start the day with a meal.

Room was spacious and clean, and staff was helpful and friendly. Cold tap handle was broken and needed extra care to stop water. Also bath tab drain was stacked and we needed to call front to help to drain the bath at the midnight.

We had a great stay at Apex Waterloo Place! The service was excellent—special shoutout to a front desk staff member who was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and professional throughout our visit. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was a pleasant surprise. We expected a basic Continental breakfast but got so much more—fresh croissants, fruits, and even made-to-order items like smoked salmon with eggs. The location is unbeatable—just minutes from Waverley Station, the Royal Mile, and tons of restaurants. Plus, the hop-on hop-off bus literally stops right in front of the hotel. The only downside was accessibility. There are several steps in the lobby and on the way to our room, which made hauling 50+ lb luggage a bit of a struggle. Definitely not ideal if you have mobility issues or heavy bags. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely return!
