A very convenient location. Staff very pleasant. The rooms were small but lovely. As a gold elite member of Marriott hotels a little disappointed our check in could not have bee earlier than 3 Pm and that we could not earn Marriott points since we booked via Expedia

Our room was down two floors from the lobby. The view out of the window was a dirty alleyway. Our deadbolt on the room door didn’t work. We put out our do not disturb sign but housekeeping still came knocking at 9:00am. Then they started construction right outside of our room at 9:30am. Not a good experience while jet lagged.

This hotel was lovely, in a perfect location with access to new town, old town, and tram, bus and rail service. The hotel was lovely with a cool seating area out front. The staff was absolutely lovely, so nice and helpful. This was my first trip to Scotland and the staff made an incredible impression on me. Thank you!

We were on level 4 which is the same level as breakfast and I’m not sure if it’s lack of air circulation or what but it smelt AWFUL! All day everyday. All the carpets are very very old with lots of dirt stains and needs refitting. Staff were nice. Not the best location. It is right near James quarter - down the hill but I would not recommend if you have a lot of plans in old town.

Overall, our stay was very enjoyable. The hotel is in a great location, close to the Royal Mile, St. Andrews Square with its many restaurants, and just steps away from the starting point of the hop-on hop-off bus. At the same time, it’s tucked away enough to avoid the noise of the busiest areas. Breakfast was decent, though a bit more variety would have been nice. The coffee wasn’t the best, but still drinkable. The common areas of the hotel are beautiful and recently renovated, while the rooms, though on the smaller side and slightly dated, were modern enough, clean, and comfortable. There are plenty of dining options nearby, we especially recommend The Conan Doyle, which had excellent fish & chips and steak pie. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Fringe visit

Very welcoming staff. Did not eat there but menu looked attractive. Room was fine but dismal outlook over giant waste bins which were noisily moved at 7.30 am. Overall pretty good.

Breakfast was very good with wide variety of buffet and ordered options. Haggis was a favorite for breakfast. Tram station is right next to hotel for easy transit theoughout Edinburgh.
