The property itself is lovely. Our room had various marks on the walls and whilst was tidy wasnt clean. The pool and spa is open to the public and kids were allowed to use the sauna which made it somewhere od rather not be.

Relaxing retreat
Away from the city business, but just a bus ride from Edinburgh, this hotel is a nice retreat. Beautiful grounds, quiet and spacious rooms, and two restaurants on site. We were able to unwind before are long trip home!

Lovely hotel and comfortable rooms. Leisure staff very helpful, however staff at breakfast seemed clueless as to where they should be or what they should be doing. Apart from one lady who was exceptionally efficient, jolly & helpful.

Stay away from this hotel. Although the allure of sleeping in a historic building can be tempting, this is truly the hotels only selling feature. The staff were rude and condescending, with not a smile seen on any of them throughout our stay. The rooms are old and dated, with hair and garbage left in the bathrooms from the previous guests. Food and drinks at the hotel are twice the price of what they are in Edinburgh. The third night we were refused entry, as the rooms had been “overbooked” and we were picked among 8 others, where they had booked us alternate accommodation that was half the price of a nights stay at the Dalmahoy. Naturally they refused to refund the price of the room, let alone the difference. There’s a growing trend of sleazy hotels doing this, where they claim overbookings, put you into a hotel half the price, and pocket the rest. Stay at your own risk!

I chose this place for its proximity to the airport. That was fine but the hotel was such a maze of stairs and hallways and rooms and nothing made sense. The signs and directions could be greatly improved. we wasted precious time just trying to find the lobby, the Brassiere restaurant and our room. Time that could be better spent sleeping before our flights. Our dinner at the Brassiere was just average.
