Personally I like the breakfasts and Tv size, big and bold to make up for the smaller room and desk. But it's cosy and bed is really comfortable Though one thing that i found it hard to adapt to was the inconsistent shower temperature, out of 4 showers, 2 were ok, 1 was freezing, 1 was boiling

Unique in that it was cozy and its location in old town. Decoration and feel was nice. Whilst its an old building it was a bit of a rabbit warren. Loved that it was connected to the pub. Staff were friendly and helpful

Great little hotel
Hotel is really well situated near bus stops for further afield and within walking distance of the castle etc. Rooms were lovely - the gift basket with Irn Bru and Tunnocks, along with candy canes as its close to Christmas, was a lovely touch. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Pub next door is handy for breakfast. Can be a little rowdy at kicking out time, but that's to be expected and didn't offend us. All in all a quirky little place but has absolutely everything you need. I will definitely stay here again if I am ever in Edinburgh again

This is a great place to stay in old town. The staff were very professional and friendly. It’s a great location but best not to have a car because there’s no place to park excellent public transportation.

We booked this hotel because it looked like a funky, unique place right in the heart of the tourist area of Ediburgh. The location was spectacular, but the hotel was a disappointment. The room we booked was one of the largest options they offer, but it was tiny. I don't mean the usual "Americans surprised by size of European hotel rooms" tiny - I mean objectively tiny. It was so small, the only place we could open our suitcases fully was on the bed. Unfortunately, because the floors were so filthy, that made the bed dirty. We booked for one night, but then decided to add a second night before checking in - big mistake. We were stuck here for two nights and were very disappointed. The promised "comic book wallpaper" had been painted over (poorly because it was scratched off in places). The wall map with fun magnets to plan your trip in your room was there, but there were no magnets. Also, we had wifi on our first night, but it was completely out for the rest of our stay. We asked to borrow one of their chromecasts, but they were never available (wouldn't have been able to use it without wifi anyway, I guess). The hotel was a maze - getting to the room was like a Willy Wonka fever dream. The only positive is the location - that is stellar, but it doesn't make up for all the downsides - especially at this price point. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. (Unless you're a wealthy teenager who is there to drink and party all night and can pass out anywhere.)

The Grassmarket Hotel was convenient, clean and the staff were super helpful. They stored my luggage for me, as I arrived mid-morning. My room was small, but the bathroom was a great size and quite comfortable. I had no problems getting my luggage up to my room and there was no noise from the pub below. It was very convenient to the Royal Mile, the Castle, Holyrood, terrific restaurants, and everything else I wanted to see. As a woman who was traveling solo, I felt safe and absolutely enjoyed my stay!
