Friendly and welcoming staff
Very friendly staff on reception and in the restaurant. Loved the smiling faces first thing! I had everything i needed in the room and was very pleased to have spring water provided. I was on the grohnd floor but wasn't disturbed by any noise from inside or outside the hotel. Only a short walk from Haymarket station and into the city.

Mercury Hotel is a very nice place to stay if you wish to spend time in Edinburgh city. It is very clean and comfortable, Breakfast excellent and restaurant meals lovely. Staff very friendly and efficient.

Need to be more diligent
When I arrived, I was told someone had already checked into my room. Apparently someone with a similar sounding name was in it under my booking. They changed it round eventually, but I wasn’t happy that this could have happened. Any charges/damages to the room could have been linked to my card! The room itself was clean and comfortable. However, as a solo female traveller, I was given an adjoining room. I know the connecting door was locked - but it didn’t feel very safe. I was also a little bit disappointed that breakfast wasn’t available as room service as I had worked a late shift the night before. I don’t know if I would stay here again when there are several similar options nearby in the same price range.

I enjoyed my stay. The hotel and room had everything I needed. The staff were lovely and attentive. The only thing that could have been better was the strength of the wifi.

The only thing i didnt like was the pillows. They were foam rather than feather and over stuffed and not comfortable at all. I had to use one of the towels in the end because my neck started to hurt. Other than that, every thing was good. Not many hotel get the pillows right. I should've known better and just brought my own.
