It’s located in the amazing spot and very close to the train station. however, the price is much higher than those hotel located nearby due to the claim of the oldest hotel in town.
The hotel location was great! Easy walking to everything touristy. However The hotel is only accessible with stairs—there is an elevator from check in to the room floors, but from ground floor to check in there is only stairs. The room itself was a bit tired but overall comfortable enough for a weekend trip. The only real downside was the shower which had very inconsistent temperature. Can recommend the breakfast bar though, tasty and great view of the Scot monument.
The hotel was very clean and inviting. Very central to ev6we wanted or needed to do The staff are friendly and attentive. Our double room was basic but clean and comfortable. Only gripe was that the bathroom sink was great if youre 7ft tall, a tad too high for a 5ft 5in woman. Perfect for our short stay.

Door slamming cleaning crew at early hour
This place was just alright but there was a big problem: the walls are paper thin and the cleaning staff start at 8am for some reason. Every morning the cleaning staff would be SLAMMING doors at 8am. You are simply NOT ALLOWED to sleep past 8 according to this hotel. Now, you could close the doors relatively silently, and you could put a door stop in if the cleaning staff are going in and out of a room 18 times. But they don't. The halls are too small for carts so they load all the cleaning supplies in a row down the hall then go in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out... Slamming doors EVERY SINGLE TIME. I literally cried out "Why?" at one point and they started slamming LOUDER as if to teach me a lesson for sleeping longer than them and their early hour job. I hated this horrible place. Don't go here. You can find normal options at the same price that don't treat you this way. It was insane how many slams of doors there were and there was no reason for it to be done at such an early hour. I really did not like this place. Don't go here. I will never forget the cleaning lady with the shoulder length hair who slammed the door of the rooms beside me maybe 25 times within the space of 45 minutes. I really disliked this place and would never consider it again.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The dining and bar area were relaxing and well stocked. You could walk to all major attractions in both old and new city. Since this is a very old hotel, the accessibility was more difficult to navigate with a number of steps to get up from the street to the lobby. The elevator could hold a maximum of 4 people. This elevator also served as a service elevator for housekeeping.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Good Location, and good prices. Shower was poor and temperature would go from freezing to very hot.
