Great location! Some room for improvement!

Room was nice and tidy. We have stayed here multiple times in the last 10 years. I was a bit disappointed to see some obvious signs of wear and tear in the room furniture/ table area. Also, WIFI was really disappointing. Not what you would expect for such a large hotel. Had issues using the Chromecast/ pairing with an iPhone at night-time. Hotel starting to look a little bit dated as the years go on. Our room was not serviced one of the days, so we got it serviced after 7pm when we went out for dinner. However, overall a comfortable stay and great, central location!

Very friendly helpful staff. Was on a tour group first night and next 4 nights a personal booking. On arrival they arranged so we could stay in the same room for the visible. Central location 10-20 min to Grassmarket district, train, Hollyrood Palace, Edinburgh castle, and the national museum and Nelson monument park. Nice reasonable bar and lounge, average breakfast buffet, and cheerful concierge arraged airport taxi. Workout room and pool. Meticulous daily housekeeping service, spacious room, and our 3rd floor room was quiet with double windows even overlooking the busy Royal mile.

We were so looking forward to this hotel stay because it was right in the heart of everything, was castle shaped and it cost almost a weeks salary for one night. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and even helped us park our van in a private lot as it wouldn't fit in the underground parkade. The room was nice, and quite roomy. I maybe expected something more "castle" like or maybe a little bit more upscaled for the price we had paid. I had upgraded our suite to include a king bed, and was taken aback when it came with 2 twins. They informed us that this is standard and that they would combine them together for us. I had mentioned that the beds were quite slanted (tilted backwards when sat on), I was assured that the combining and the mattress topper would solve that. It did not, haha. Made for an "interesting" sleep and getting out of in the morning. Overall, its a nice hotel with some great staff in an incredible location, but the price tag did not match for what was provided.
