Having booked a deluxe room I was disappointed to find that the promised view of Edinburgh castle was compromised by a ghastly marquee which filled the whole of Festival Square and that there was a 10 day pop up cocktail event which entailed noisy music from mid afternoon till nearly 11pm which spoiled what we hoped was going to be a restful break for our 3 night stay. Our final morning before check-out was ruined by a very long wait in A queue for breakfast and having to give up and go elsewhere. The staff seemed unable to cope with the numbers of people waiting which was annoying particularly as there was a number of tables empty but no one dealing with the people who had been requested to wait. It was a big disappointment and. I would have thought a hotel of this standing should have managed the situation better.

Ask for an early check-in, weeks ahead of time for a suite. We arrived from an international flight very tired, the front desk was very adamant about a 3:00 pm check, however, they said our room was vacated early, the staff was into a power trip over Americans, very incenstive and childish. Hotel was very nice, breakfast was fair, bar excellent.

This stay could have been great. The hotel failed to inform residents until Saturday afternoon that we would have leave by 7:30am Sunday or after 1:30pm as a marathon was to be set up and no way to get our vehicle out after 7:30am. The hotel did not offer an extended check-out time and just told me I can keep my luggage down stairs and wait till 1:30pm? The hotel knew about this event and should have posted as I would have chose another hotel but that is why they didn't.

Enjoyed our stay in the club rooms. Daily housekeeping was excellent and all hotel staff that we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to key sites and attractions.

Fantastic Stay

We really enjoyed our stay. Ideal place as bus stops right outside. The room was clean and tidy. We had a twin bedded room. The beds were very comfortable and the hotel quiet. Only one problem, the shower was very slippery! The staff were pleasant and helpful. The club lounge was fantastic, possibly the best I have been to. Staff great, food and drinks top class. As the swimming pool was unavailable I booked the hydro at a discounted price. I really enjoyed relaxing in the rooftop hydro. I also went into the other heated rooms then finished in the relaxation room.

Upgraded view of a tent.

Beautiful location with a stunning view of Edinburgh Castle. My only complaint is I did pay for the upgraded view, only to arrive to find a tent for the “Ladyboys of Bangkok” running show as my view just below the castle. just a big pink and black, ugly thing, obscuring what would’ve been a beautiful view. I wish somebody would have mentioned that to me and I wouldn’t have paid for the upgraded view. That said, incredibly helpful and Service oriented staff. Really A+ on the arrival experience. Really appreciated the lounge and atmosphere, right in the city center. Easy access to so much.

Lovely hotel in a good spot for walking into town. All staff helpful and friendly. Slightly annoying that the shower head was broken after paying top price for the room. However we received a discount on checkout and an apology.
