This is a quaint property close to the Princes street in Edinburgh. It is a quiet and safe area close enough to the tourist attractions but away from the chaos and bustle of the Royal mile and markets. It has an old world charm and the rooms are well appointed and clean, with all features that you would expect.
A couple of nights to Edinburgh. The reception staff went above and beyond to help. The breakfast was substantial but nay Haggis. The bar prices very reasonable and the staff very friendly.
My only comment is the lack of accessible 14a Sockets in Room 21. Only two double sockets with USB ports , one behind the kettle and the other at floor level slightly obscured by the desk.
Lovely property and lovely staff. I true experience of Scotland. The room was very clean with only a cobweb to be honest. The room was so lovely, the tub was nice and hot, again the only truth being they didn’t remove the stickers from the side of the toilet.
Absolutely highly recommended.
Hotel was chosen for closeness to Princes st and Xmas markets etc. What we found was a special place which was a club for ex military through the years and the history in there was so interesting ( now open to the general public) packed full of momentos about the queen visiting different regiments and areas of Scotland. It was kept spotless and lovely and warm. Breakfast was served from menu and piping hot with plenty of choice . Would thoroughly recommend
What a fantastic stay! Beautiful hotel balancing it's fascinating history with the needs and expectations of the modern traveller. Polite and helpful staff. Breakfast was perfect, best Black Pudding for a very long time. We would definitely stay again. Location is quiet.
Great position just north of Queens Gardens
Spacious room
Slight uphill to Princes Street
Easy walk to Broughton and Stockbridge
Breakfast finishes at 9.30 weekdays
We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Scots. Our room had a great view over the park and the staff was very welcoming.
Our room was very clean and I loved the decor.
The location was great as it was just a couple blocks from the restaurants and shops but nice and quiet in the evening. Parking was the only hiccup but that was the fault of the parking meter and not the hotel. Ended up parking at OMNi which was just a couple minute walk.
Would definitely stay again!!
Excellent stay to start our time in Scotland! Mark the night porter was amazing and so funny and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and great lounge spaces.
Lots of history in the building. Our room was in the nearby annex (4 rooms here). There are steps down to the area. The main hotel is a few steps away. There is a lounge/waiting area if you are early for check-in. Breakfast is served in a lovely dining area and we did try out the evening meal as well. Reasonable prices and nicely presented and great food.. Nearby shopping and the tram to the airport is a short distance away (albeit uphill) Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone coming to Edinburgh who likes history.
