Love every element of the resort, it was our 6th visit and, staff remembered us from previous trips. Entertainment is awesome, food options are many. Easy to get transportation to visit the City. The property is exceptionally clean, featuring an immaculate background and excellent food. However, it is showing some signs of aging. Our biggest regret, though not quite a disappointment, was the beach. I understand that beachfront property in Costa Rica is public land, but a hotel of your reputation could have taken steps to improve its cleanliness and accessibility. That said, our vacation was overall outstanding, and I would not hesitate to recommend Costa Rica Riu to anyone!

The hotel is old and not very clean, the rooms are in poor condition, not very clean, there is a terrible smell in the room, it soaked into all my clothes. I do not recommend this hotel, the only plus is the number of pools, a lot of them, which could also be cleaner. The hotel staff were very nice and helpful.

Great weekend getaway. The property is super well maintained, solid meal options and staff is incredibly friendly.

Wherever we went it was not a comfortable chare, not in the room, the theatre, or the hall. We were glad to get home and have a few days off to relax after this vacation! The food selection was poor.

The rooms are subpar at best. Old. Outdated. But clean. My frig broke and was leaking on floor for 2 days. Food just ok. Lack of nightlife. Needs more diversed entertainment. Lobby Was old and ugly looks like old scargace hotel.

RIU Palace was beautiful. It looks big and expansive from the outside, however everything is withing easy walking distance from pools to rooms to restaurants and the beach

I sent money to Expedia for the booking. I arrive to the hotel, the hotel says my booking is cancelled. Expedia pretends to not know what is going on, then the hotel reciprocates this same notion. Expedia, and the hotel, both stole my money.

My wife and I stayed at many different RIU Palace across the world. This was one of the worse ones we stayed at. This resort lacked entertainment and engagement. I was shocked because every RIU is know for entertainment. They offered games by the pool, but didn’t try to include many quest instead they just had like 5 guest playing. It rained a good amount of time during our trip and the resort couldn’t seem to hold many indoor activities or events. When speaking with other guest, it seemed we all had the same experiences. On our last night, our room was having technical difficulties and wouldn’t allow us to enter. The staff tried opening it with their master key and it still didn’t work. We were placed in an empty room for the night. When morning came, we expected the room would be open so we can make it to our scheduled excursions but it wasn’t. We were told maintenance wouldn’t be in until 8am. Management informed us multiple times we would receive a one day refund for the inconvenience with the room door but they couldn’t process it since we purchased our stay through Expedia. The manager stated Expedia would have to email the resort directly for a refund. It has now been 4 days and Expedia has been trying to get a hold of management but they have been avoiding dealing with the issue in hopes we would forget they promised this refund. Overall, I would not recommend this resort. I would recommend other RIU palace in the world just not Guanacaste Costa Rica.
