The resort is nice. However, it's important to note that this is a party hotel, which I didn’t realize before booking. With party hotels, you get all the party people and the problems that come with it. We were woken up in the middle of the night twice by some drunk idiots pulling the fire alarm and screaming in the hallways. The staff is not well-trained; you will get different responses to your questions depending on who you ask. The staff is also not your typical cheerful staff—most of the time, they don’t seem happy to help.
Don't waste your money on the spa on-site—it was awful. The facility is old, and the "jacuzzi" doesn’t have functioning jets! The massage was $115 USD per person for 50 minutes. When I asked the therapist to focus on my lower back, she said, "I cannot focus on any area. The massage is completed in a very specific sequence with no modifications," which was awful. The massage itself was just a smooth rub, like someone was rubbing lotion on your body and that’s it. Not worth it—don’t do it!! If you want a good massage, walk past the Riu Palace on the beach and look for the gals by the monkeys. They have a nice little outdoor beach setup for $40 an hour, and they actually know how to give a massage. All the food is mediocre. The line to eat at the steakhouse started forming about 1–1.5 hours ahead of time, and the food was a 5/10. Not worth the wait. They gave us mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, and they tasted like cardboard and were cold.
