The property needs serious upgrading. The location is excellent ,and with a major facelift, this could be an excellent hotel. the carpeting is very warn and deep dirt that really could not be cleaned. Staff friendly, modest breakfast, bed mattess, sheets, blankets are budget hotel grade. Bahtrroms very small but not much can be done for space in an remodel. Pet friendly apparently in every room, so you always had the feeling you were in not a super clean room. Unless ownership made major upgrades, I would not stay at this hotel in the future.

The front desk staff were extremely nice & accommodating. The location was excellent — mere minutes from Steppingstone and a walkable distance (down the beach) to Moonlight. If I ever return to Encinitas, I’d stay here again.

Stayed here from Mon to Fri and paid $742. It was worth it. It’s per diem money anyway. Stonesteps beach is a 5 minute walk and it’s really nice. Hearing the train early in the morning sucked, avoid room 209 because people walk out of the hotel and slam the door late at night. Room 209’s restroom leaks a lot when you shower. Had to use a couple of towels to soak up the water from the floor. Other than that this hotel is really nice in a nice area. Staff is friendly, housekeeping everyday, and the room is nice. Would definitely stay here again just a different room.

Cute and Close to everything

Cute updated small little hotel. Rooms were cute, personally the bed not so comfortable but they give you lots of pillows. Was not able to get the wi-fi to work, but I could use my hotspot from my phone. Breakfast was really simple, and perfect for a morning snack and hot cup of coffee. This was a random find and I would consider booking again. It is close to everything. Price per night was very reasonable as well. I kind of like that it is a smaller property it keeps it quiet. There is no elevator, so make sure your knees can handle up and down the staircase several times a day :)

From the check-in to the room everything was terrible. Front desk check-in was not smooth, then the attendant gave us a horrible room situated under the staircase and past dripping air conditioning systems. The doorway to the room was partially blocked by the hallway door that was propped open. The door to the room itself didn’t close correctly on its own, the room lights were horrible LED, it was stuffy and the air conditioning unit constantly shut on and off and was so noisy. The bathroom was horrible and needs renovation, it had pieces of the doorway missing and patches all over the walls. All in all it was one of the worst stays we have ever had.
