Disappointed
The property was covered in snow and ice, presenting dangerous conditions even to get into the office. This at a time when the community was clear of snow. Liability for ownership in Colorado is huge. They shouldn’t advertise continental breakfast. Very limited and low quality choices. Interior of rooms in need of repairs and paint.

Our room was clean and comfortable. The TV took a little time to master and was a little low on the wall from the bed, but we managed. The balcony off the room has an incredible view. There is a nice table on the balcony, but it is metal, so we had to improvise to make it comfortable in the cold. The Blue Door Inn has the potential to be exceptional with a few upgrades. The hot tub and fire pits were not functional in the winter, which was a bummer. The weather was quite mild while we were there, and we would have taken advantage of both on a regular basis. The outdoor areas were unkept for the winter instead of promoting fun winter possibilities. There also were no holiday themes or festive lights. It is a pet-friendly property with an outdoor area for your dog, but it seemed like the staff was standoffish towards our dog. Embracing the pet-friendly theme, updating the outdoor amenities, and making this property more a destination than a landing pad in the winter would make the Blue Door Inn an outstanding place to stay.

We liked that we were able to take our dogs and it was walkable to town. We had a great view of the mountains from our room. On the website it said $20 per night per dog and I actually called the hotel to make sure that was the case and when I went to check in I was told $30 per dog per night. In the end I paid $20 but I didn’t like that the price changed at check in. The breakfast was fine but it was supposed to be between 7:00am and 10:00am and there was no one there until 7:30am and people were waiting to get their breakfast.

After all the negative reviews I read I wasn’t sure I would enjoy my stay. My husband looks for the cheapest place to stay. Our room was clean, bedding clean. And the cleanest bathroom I have come across. No carpet was a plus in my book. Staff was nice. Continental breakfast was adequate. There are restaurants close if a person didn’t want this. I would recommend to stay here. Room was cleaned daily. Towels were thick and not thread bare like some stated in their review. I feel the negative reviews we false.

Hotel room was clean and comfortable. We had faced problem with bathroom commode flush but they immediately changed the room upon reporting the problem. Breakfast was having very limited choices however it was good. The surrounding area was beautiful and eventually we were lucky to see a gang of elk crossing the road in front of the hotel. We will recommend this property for family stay.

Another pleasant experience
Have stayed at the Inn many times for quick getaways. Excellent location. Breakfast has scrambled eggs which I appreciate. Much better than most places having empty carbs.
