The room was pretty clean and cute. Loved that they included noise machines since they are on a street that gets late night bar visitors. The inside of the hotel was super quiet. They have cute events all the time in the ballroom type area. The employees are nice. Downsides They didn’t refill the coffee or hot water even on busy days. I overheard the manager trying to correct this after the weekend, so it might unusual. There were no TVs, irons, or mini fridges. My group all got different price level rooms and it was still seemed like most of us didn’t get TVs or fridges. I don’t think anyone had an iron. My closet had 1 hanger and if you need the room cleaned you have to tell them the day before at 7pm.

Loved this beautiful old hotel, the staff were all friendly and welcoming. Very conveniently located in the historic downtown. My only hesitation to recommend it to some folks would be if you went the wrong direction you would quickly enter a small group of homeless people. I had no problems however and walked all over the historic downtown to see the lovely Victorian architecture, the pretty waterfront, the murals and to many wonderful restaurants. I got excellent recommendations for local restaurants and things to do and see from the staff. I will stay here afain happily!

The property is quirky like Victorian old homes are. Beautiful velvet furniture and dark ornate woodwork. Interesting artwork and fun spaces. The location is great for walking to Old Town Eureka, Restaurants, and bars. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure was good. The room was clean and spacious. We were in one of the deluxe queen rooms.

Considering the architectural heritage and strong presence of artists in Eureka, the hotel lacked the charm, verve and pride it might have. Instead, it was dingy and in need of the attention of an artistic hand in fixing it up both inside and out to tastefully make it shine. Clearly the hotel (and town?) is struggling, but likely owned by someone with weak good taste and little imagination- it wouldn’t take much to make the place a stunner. Too, the energy of the staff reflected the state of the building - nearly every last receptionist ( and we encountered more than six in our 4 night stay) was downright unfriendly, unwelcoming and inhospitable- they seemed unhappy; it was uncanny considering these people are in a hospitality business. On a positive note, the architecture of the building itself was authentic and our room was spacious with high ceilings. We appreciated the white noise machine as the area was exceptionally noisy all night, most nights. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The headboard, matching night stands and other pieces of furniture were antique and beautiful. There was ample lighting and plenty of power outlets. The Wifi worked well. A nice touch was a press pot for coffee.

This was a terrible experience. The place smelled so moldy that my aunt and I didn’t feel safe staying. The woman at the front desk was very rude and refused to give me her name or any refund. I will be disputing the charges and contacting the management as well as the local BBB.

We did not stay. There were many homeless people around. This part of town was terrible. Bars on the windows and doors. The area was deserted other than the homeless. We were on our 50th anniversary trip and the place scared us.

Classic "Old Dame" Hotel.

Wife and I spent 4 nights in Eureka and found this hotel. Great location, with walking distance to most of good restaurants in town. There are a fair amount of homeless or down on their luck around but we never had any problems. Probably common for California. The hotel is a classic old dame and our room was very unique but cozy. Lots of early 1900 charm but bathroom was modern, roomy and worked well. Recommend this place for people that want a unique, old time experience. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
