Hotel is in need of some renovation but seems they are doing that. Price reflects so good hotel for the money
The bedroom had been refurbished. Very comfortable. The bathroom was very dated. The shower in particular was very slow. The staff were very helpful. The common areas were in the process being upgraded.
Unfortunately the room I was given was long overdue a refurb - torn curtain, stains, mould, cracks, peeling paint... The list goes on.
The hotel itself and downstairs décor was lovely, however, so maybe I was just unlucky.

An enjoyable stay - hotel clearly mid renovation and some rooms in much better shape than others. Great, convenient location for town and a wander to the beach . Would love to stay again in a few months time once renovations are complete.
This hotel is going extensive refurbishment. Could not have dinner as the kitchen was being re-eqiped. Excellent public rooms. Friendly staff who did everything they could to make your stay enjoyable. Hotel has an older part and a more modern extension. I had a large double room in the original part of the hotel. No central hearing but there was an efficient stand alone heater. Bathroom had a radiator. The room was bright and airy and was well furnished. No traffic noise. Would definitely stay again.
A Really Relaxing stay in a perfect location with everything accessible within 10 minutes walking time.
Friendly and professional staff with excellent customer service and perfect training.
Ideal for a short break or a longer stay in a nice, quiet location but within 5 to 10 minutes walking distance of sea front, high street, cinema, train station and bus routes. For the more able walkers and sightseers there are excellent coastal paths and country walk.
It's like staying in your own stately home but with the added comfort of peace of mind.

Worst hotel stay we have ever had. A much needed weekend break with a friend. Booked a twin room and was given a small double bed. Changed to a twin room and one bed had the springs showing through. Was then given another room. We were so cold overnight my friend slept with a polo neck under her pyjamas, her coat over her and her bath towel on top. The next morning there was no heating on and no hot water. It was too cold to have a shower. Told management and they said heating would be sorted. Breakfast was awful in an extremely cold dining room. We went into town and purchased some hot water bottles. No shower again before we went out for the evening as the water was cold and the room was really cold too. No heating again overnight or the next morning. Went to breakfast wearing our coats and took our hot water bottles with us. Awful, awful, awful. So disappointed
Restaurant was closed throughout, so manager gave us free breakfast every day - excellent customer service. Hotel well located for bus stops and train station. Friendly staff. Only criticism is allowing smokers to cluster outside the front door - gives a very bad impression, and floor is strewn with cigarette butts.
This is a lovely grand hotel which is in need of refurbishment. The rooms were clean and comfortable and spacious. There was good parking included. The breakfast buffet was ok but only had instant coffee. The staff were friendly and helpful. I understand it has just got new owners who have plans to upgrade. It has great potential.
