The room was small but adequate for or short stay. The elevator was out of order when trying to check out, so carrying 5 bags down the stairs was a hassle. Overall, I would have been satisfied but the last day, we went down to have breakfast at 7:05 as everything was laid out and prepared. The desk clerk stopped us and said breakfast starts at 7:30. We asked why we could not go ahead since it was all ready. He said because it starts at 7:30. We told him we had a train to catch, so he told us to wait a few minutes while he “checked on something.” We stood around waiting but he never told us what we were actually waiting on. Finally we just handed him the keys and left. Ate at McDonalds across from the train station. This was the only person we had trouble with as the other front desk staff were extremely nice and helpful.

My wife & I enjoyed our short stay at Hotel City. The room was clean and it met our needs, very comfy bed. Enio and his staff were excellent, they provided information about the surrounding area and they made sure that we were taken care of.

This is a Great hotel, so centrally located to everything. The saff is awesome especially Edita and Sammy. They helped us feel very welcome. Rooms are very clean, bed was great. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Florence!

My first impression of this hotel was great disappointment as soon as we walked in the drab entranceway. The real shock was the room we had on the 3rd floor near the roof with 2 small windows looking out onto roof tiles. It was dim because it had only 2 small lights near the bed and 1 ceiling light with a low watt bulb. The 4 corners of the room were dark because the lighting was inadequate so it was difficult to see into our luggage, which had to be put on a old piece of wood attached to the wall. We felt as though we were in the attic of a grandmother’s dated house. There was a nonworking floor lamp with a stained shade. There was a chair with a stained seatpad. The airconditioning worked but it was noisy. Because it was an attic room 1 side of the wall sloped down at an angle so we had to be careful not to hit our heads on the wood beam. Yes, the small bathroom was renovated and modern. The shower worked well. Still, at almost $400 a night for this hotel, we were shocked at how overpriced this dated and shabby room was. The website photos did not match with reality. Last, the expensive breakfast was completely inadequate. It was the most plebeian and limited fare of food. We do not intend to be harsh but we need to warn other travelers. The staff, although nice, did not make up for an experience we had to tolerate unhappily, having been required to pay when booking for a nonrefundable room. Anyone paying more than $100 a night here should beware of what you’re getting.
