black mold in shower….I had to clean it with clorox wipes ….if i saw it so should housekeeping …..people in room beside us were smoking pot outside and the smell was very evident from i side our room

Very dirty carpet...run down. There were a lot of "Awards" hanging in the lobby, but they were all at least a few years old. Property probably sold to new owners who won't re-invest back into the property (happens a lot- I am a hospitality exec and seeing a lot of these independent properties being purchased by foreign family's who just want to squeeze the profit out of them).

Nice place. Very clean and quiet. Safe. Downside bathroom fan was crazy loud. Otherwise it was a good stay. Coffee in lobby was hot and fres! Good price for location.

No Soap. WTH

I noticed this motel didn't offer soaps/shampoos. At $250 a night, you'd think a tube of shampoo and one little bar of of soap wouldn't put Surf Motel in financial dire straights.

I stayed for 3 nights July 9-12. The Reception staff & the manager were personable, efficient & helpful. Cara was especially helpful. My room had both a small refrigerator and a microwave plus coffee pot. The room was clean & comfortable for myself & my dogs. My dogs are large & crate trained so did not roam about the room. The fenced dog yard was appropriate & well maintained. Several guests did not clean up after their dogs which was a nuisance a few minutes every day, but not the fault of the Motel crew. The motel is right on a busy road so a bit noisy, but not bad. The motel is only 6 minutes by car from a really nice dog beach. And, it is centrally located for restaurants, grocers, shopping and gas stations. I was delighted to discover Hwy 20 Feed (10 minutes by car) has a self-service dog wash station available 24/7. Easy to rinse the dogs off after each trip to the beach. I will definitely stay here again.

Centrally loates

We enjoyed this location because it was centrally located newr the beaches, restaurants, shopping/ grocery store, allowed pets, had a dog run, and had a reasonable pet fee. The breakfast was basic with very limited selection. The staff were friendly and helpful.

This was a very cute hotel and we enjoyed our stay. The location was great convenient. The only disappointing factor was we were needing to use the laundry facilities and it was not in working order and this was not described on the amenities. Other than that great place to stay.

Great Pet Stay

This is a great pet friendly place to stay along the Northern California coast. Our only issue was lack of cell phone signal and spotty Wi-Fi.

The hotel and room was a bit dated but it was nice, clean, and a good value. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was a nice touch. It wasn't elaborate but it had a nice selection (cereal, oatmeal, fruit, toast, pastries, coffee, chocolate, and juice). We would definitely stay there again.

I think this property will be fine when the cost of the room is $79. But over the holiday weekend we were charged $496 for an overnight stay. So with that amount of money comes a critical eye. The carpet was frayed, The room stunk, all of the lightbulbs in the room were mismatched and different color, the hot water was very slow to heat, the maintenance person came to our door and asked to do some caulking in the bathroom and when it didn’t need to be done they stated I’m going to kick their ass on his way out because he was inconvenienced. The man at the front counter had a child so out of control that he slapped her to make her go into the other room. She was probably seven years old. The breakfast was basically nonexistent, and the woman behind the counter didn’t know if she could see fireworks from the parking lot, even though she is a local and experiences the holiday every year. We chose this room because it was the only one left for the holiday and I take full responsibility For being Price gouged. But like I said, if you’re going to charge $500 for the night, you should probably have a clean and organized property with a friendly staff.
