Family Fun: Mountain-view Home in Fort Garland!
Great Sand Dunes Lodge
The best thing about the lodge is its proximity to Great Sand Dunes National Park. It is by far the lodging closest to the park. Scenery is gorgeous. There are very few dining options near the lodge. Pizza was available for purchase from the lodge office until 6 or 7pm.

The room was nice and cozy! The people are what made this stay so nice. Mike and his lovely wife created such an enjoyable, friendly atmosphere for everybody! Really enjoyed our stay in Cuchara! Haven’t been to such a friendly town in a long time, can’t wait to go again!

The two things I did not like were (1) the hours are very limited, and you must check in during the day; and (2) the rooms were fairly overpriced.
