Property would benefit if heat pump installed rather than relying on bar heater. It was cold so heating is a must but a heat pump can be easily controlled to provide a comfortable temperature

Great value for an overnight stay. No screens on doors or windows means a stuffy room as biting insects will invade otherwise.

Lake Matheson a short drive away.
Beautiful little town but didn't 'have the best experience at this motel. It works and has what you need but I'd stay somewhere else next time. For my 30 day day trip to New Zealand this was the only hotel I wouldn't stay at again. Hotel is definitely not on the lake but a short 5-10 minute drive away and a short 5 minute walk to the main street on the highway. Neither of which are a big deal. Everything is close in Fox Glacier as it is a very small town.

The Lake Matheson Motel is well located and the arrival experience was great. The staff are really good and provided some great insights in to nearby attractions. The room was clean and adequate.

Comfortable and convenient for viewing glaciers.
The room was clean and very comfortable. We appreciated being able to walk into town for dinner and drive to the lake and lookout area in less thay10 minutes!

The two bedroom apartment was as depicted in the photos. It was reasonably basic and the walls were quite thin. The bathroom tap and fan noise could be heard everywhere in the apartment. Parking was directly out the front which was very good. Reception staff were lovely and the area is flat and walkable to various eating places. It’s close to the lovely lake Matheson walk, and a fantastic view of Fox Glacier from Peak view is a short drive down the road. Beds were okay but the pillows were very flat and not comfortable.

A great place to stay while we explored around Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers - we wished we could have stayed longer. Probably the most comfortable beds during our whole trip. The staff were lovely, the room was spacious and well set up. We were surprisingly warm and snug, despite the cool weather. A gorgeous location, and an easy stroll to fabulous dining. We would definitely stay here again.
