Good location to shipyard and beautiful views
The hotel staff are wonderful but the cleanliness of the room is lacking. However, the rooms are big and have everything you need to stay for awhile. The pool area is very nice and the beach is just across the street. You are about 15-20 minutes from Lucaya Market.

Beautiful Beach and Very Nice Place to Stay
We very much enjoyed our stay at Dundee Bay Villas. Our room was very nice with a full kitchen, beautiful grounds to lounge in, and a nice pool area overlooking the bay behind the hotel. The staff are always friendly and helpful as is the manager who resides in the building. The beaches are a three minute walk away from the front door next to a private estate of large homes along the beach and the canal. Look for a lady named Joy on the beach by the Xanadu Hotel (just a short walk on the east side of the beach) who makes and sells bracelets, necklaces and earrings. She is a delightful person and her things are very nice and reasonably priced for gifts to bring home.

Lovely place to stay away from the "throng"
Our stay was amazing...just what we needed/wanted! We didn't want to stay in the middle of the crowds. The Villa was about a 5-10 min taxi ride away from Port Lucaya, which meant it was quiet, relaxing, and secluded. Xanadu Beach was right behind us, and we had it all to ourselves except for a small handful of locals who would come-&-go, periodically. We were right on the Bay, which made it ideal for fishing, snorkeling, and sea-life watching from our porch. The Villa had fishing supplies readily available, and paddle boats, if you wanted to go into the Bay. Or, you could take a swim in the crystal clear in-ground pool. I can't say enough to convey just how amazing the Staff and management were there: nice, accommodating, friendly, eager-to-please, & service above-&-beyond do not even begin to adequately describe them! It was like being home with family & friends. The only "issue" (and I use that term very loosely) was that by being away from the main part of town, it meant we had to take a taxi to go anywhere. However, they even made that less stressful. Queenie's Taxi Service came highly recommended (and rightly so) with her numbers conveniently posted outside the front door.

Location
I stayed for five nights. The hotel staff was really nice and friendly. The location is the best thing about this place, Its directly across from the beach. You can walk out of your front door and you're already there. Its very quiet and secluded away from the party scene. If you're a person that likes to be right in the middle of all of the fun with all of the other tourist, this might not be the place for you. Each time we went to the beach there was always only a few people there, So if you're looking for privacy this would be a great place. We rented a car, so when we wanted to go to the beaches that attract more tourism, it was just a short drive away. My only issue is that it wasn't clean enough. Upon walking into the room there was an immediate stale odor. The microwave was filthy so I didn't use it. I bought a tin pan and used that to heat my food in the oven. If you use the dishes be sure to clean them first. I didn't trust that the linens were clean so I used towels as linens/blanket. With all the being said, I would more than likely stay here again sense it is so close to the beach, its quiet, and the we were pretty much only in the room to sleep at night. The next time I stay here I will definitely bring my own linens/blanket to sleep with along with socks to wear while I walk around the hotel room.

Satisfied
My first time here and I was not disappointed (three night stay). I was here for business and the internet was good and the room was spacious (I even got a free upgrade because my room was not ready when I arrived). Kitchen was well furnished and the beach only one block away. I never did try the pool - didn't have time. The hosts were friendly and helpful. No restaurants or stores close by, however, but I was renting a car so no problem. I was disappointed that there was not enough hot water to fill the hot tub. Overall, I was pleased and I do plan on returning.

Out of the way hotel close to the beach
We stayed at Dundee bay in November so the weather fluctuated dramatically from day to day. We loved the out of the way location as we like a more quiet and secluded experience when we travel. Peace and relaxation is our goal. The beach is only 100 yards away and is fairly large so there was always plenty of room to find a spot for our family of 6 to "set up camp". The hotel itself is ok, nothing great but nothing horrible either. Our suite was large and accommodating but dated and not as clean as we would have liked. The staff are helpful and laid back, we received everything we asked for from them promptly and with friendliness.

Quiet & Comfortable
Our stay was wonderful. The Villa is set just far away from Freeport to be almost secluded, but a two minute drive brings you right back. The staff was very welcoming and helpfull. There is a great beach right across the street, and the staff had beach equipment for us to borrow. Our room was much more than we expected. It was essentially a two bedroom apartment with two patios. When we walked in we thought it was a mistake, I asked twice if it was really ours at the price we paid. Granted it was an upgrade, but that choice was made before we even arrived. The pool, while small, is just right for kids to splash about in while using the gas or charcoal grill provided. Bottom line, whenever we come back to the Grand Bahamas, this will be our first choice.

Adequate
I had a studio on the second floor, with a kitchenette and balcony facing toward the beach. Could've used a coat of paint, and the bathroom was disappointing. The refrigerator smelled terrible, in spite of a box of baking soda. Front door barely locked (no deadbolt), which is ok I guess given the remote location. A few positives: The beach is literally only 100 yards away. Very quiet, on a dead end street so no through traffic. Air conditioning worked well, which was useful because of the humidity more than the temperature. Only stay here if you have a car - there is nothing within walking distance except the beach.

Home away From Home in Freeport :)
First thing to understand, this is not a hotel, it is a villa. A villa means a fully outfitted apartment, which makes it perfect for families, groups of friends, or self-sufficient couples. However, if you are expecting an all-inclusive hotel or even an on-site restaurant, you are wrong. I loved my 5 days here! My boyfriend and I stayed here and were upgraded to a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment, which gave us tons of space. The staff were incredible and gave us a ride to the nearest grocery so we could stock up our kitchen. The villas are overlooking a gorgeous canal with turquoise water where you can actually fish. Fishing poles and bait are available to you for free. Then literally across the street (aka 45 second walk) is the gorgeous Xanadu beach. This beach is very secluded and you will only see other Dundee Bay Villa folks there. The villas have sun chairs, flippers, goggles, and umbrellas that you can borrow which makes the beach like your second home. The pool on Dundees property is beautiful but we didn't actually swim in it because the beach was so irresistible. Tips on Freeport, rent a car! You must be 25 to rent, which we were not, which meant we were stuck cabbing most everywhere. A cab from the airport to Dundee Bay Villas should only cost about $18, more and you're being ripped off. A cab from Dundee Bay to Port Lucaya Market should be around $14/$16. Port Lucaya is fun and super touristy so when you are sick of isolation, head over there. If you arrive late, most food places are closed. Luckily, we made friends with a guy who drove us to the Pepper Pot which is a fabulous little 24/7 food store off the main highway. It was only $2.25 for a heaping amount of mac n cheese. Overall, great place to stay if you are looking to save money, cook for yourself, and enjoy a peaceful beach. If you are looking for more nightlife/activities, stay here and use the money you save to cab to Lucaya and drink/dance, do watersports over there. Highly recommend, and will absolutely stay there when I come back!

Great little hideaway
We were very pleasantly surprised at the villa we had rented and how cute it was. We were only staying for one night before our planned stay at an all inclusive. We were surprised that it is far away from any restaurants, etc, so a car is needed or at least a bicycle. Having said that, it is located a block from the beach and is right on a canal. It is a quiet location and has all that you would need to feel right at home. The manager is wonderful and saved the day for us. My standard poodle who came with us and is a certified service dog surprisingly was not allowed at the all inclusive resort and at the last minute, the manager welcomed our dog to stay with her family for the next 5 days. It was such a relief and we went back to spend time at the villas each day to be with my dog. If you want to just get away from it all, this is the place, just rent a car or vespa , pick up your groceries and you are set. We will definately stay there again.

This villa was very run down and unclean. There are no phones in the rooms and the lobby hours are not regular. The pool was stone cold and unusable. The rooms are laid out well and spacious and the villa is located in a nice quiet area, but we would never be able to recommend it.

Incredible service, beautiful location
This is a beautiful little hotel but the best thing about it is the staff. They were so helpful and kind that they really made our stay perfect. The canal off the back of the villas is breathtaking and you can snorkel right there! We rented a car to get around, and although we got lost a lot, it was a great way to see what Grand Bahama had to offer. We will be going back to Dundee Bay the first chance we get.

Great family getaway
The staff was very accommodating and very informative. The place is very quiet and only a few minutes from Port Lucaya the cab fare was there was very reasonable. I would reccommend this place to anyone and I am already scheduling my next trip back and I will be staying at the same place. The beach across the street is beautiful and the canal behind the hotel was just as beautiful. This hotel has a very homey feeling and ANYTHING you need the staff will do their best to accommodate. I cannot say enough about how nice they are.

Great, mellow place next to the most beautiful beach on Grand Bahama.
We were here for a little over a week and I will go back the first chance I get. The beach, just a short walk away, is the most beautiful I have ever seen. Our room was spacious, had a great little kitchen where we cooked all our dinners, a simple, clean bathroom, and a balcony. The air worked really well too when we had had enough heat and sun for the day. This is the perfect place to go if you are looking for a true vacation. Keep in mind it removed from everything else - no stores or restaurants next door or anything like that - which is exactly what we wanted! Few people on the beach, away from all the crowds and the kids at the resorts, and Howard, who BBQ's on the beach will make you the best lobster you've ever had.

Off the beaten path... great if you want solitude
Furnished nicely, very small, quiet and private, off the beaten path, no traffic here at all. Beach is steps away and you will most likely be the only one on it. They provide beach chairs, toys, etc for the guests to borrow. Stacy, the manager is very helpful and nice. Unbeknownst to me, she upgraded me to a huge 3br suite with jacuzzi tub, when I had only paid for a 1br. Why? Simply because she thought I would appreciate the ocean view from there, since I had come in from California and most of the others staying there were locals. Well she was right, it took my breath away. Thanks Stacy! The units have kitchens, but you really have to bring or buy everything food-related (mine didn't even have salt and pepper). There is no food on site except for a soda vending machine. You have to plan your shopping because the stores in Freeport are not well stocked and you may have to hit several places to buy everything you need. Grocery stores don't sell liquor, and most places are closed on Sundays. Stacy set me up with Queenie the taxi lady who took me all around to stock up for the week. She knows everyone in town, where to get the best fruit, bread, bargains. Thanks Queenie! You can walk to a beach cantina about 2 blocks away at the Xanadu. - they are really friendly and the food is great. The open air bar is open everyday for breakfast, lunch, dinner - 8am to ? even gave me a ride "home" since I had walked over at night and then it started to rain! Thanks !
